‘Zootopia 2’ Surpasses One Billion Dollars At Worldwide Box Office
Zootopia 2 has passed one billion dollars at the worldwide box office, making it the third highest grossing film of the year.
Animated film Zootopia 2 has officially passed one billion dollars at the worldwide box office, following an explosive first two weeks. Releasing only one week after Wicked: For Good, Zootopia 2 leveraged its better reviews, its four quarters appeal and releasing over the Thanksgiving weekend to a record breaking opening weekend.
17 days later, Zootopia 2 has passed one billion dollars at the worldwide box office, making it the third highest grossing film of the year, the second highest grossing Hollywood film of the year, and the second Hollywood film to pass the billion dollar mark this year. It is expected to surpass the live-action Lilo & Stitch remake.
This gross is largely helped by an amazing Chinese opening, where the film opened big and is staying big. Due to this, Zootopia 2 is about to surpass the original Zootopia at the worldwide box office as that film only drew in $1.024 billion.
Zootopia 2 continues the adventures of Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) as they investigate crimes for the Zootopia Police Department. Also starring in the film is Idris Elba, Ke Huy Quan, Shakira, and many more, making it a star studded picture ripe for the whole family. With Avatar: Fire and Ash releasing in the next weekend, it is unclear how Zootopia 2‘s legs will hinder that film or be hindered themself.
Not only did Zootopia 2 break records in its opening weekend but it continues to do so even now, as it is officially the fastest PG rated film to pass one billion dollars at the worldwide box office.
Zootopia 2 is now playing in theatres worldwide.
