‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’ Gets A Release Date Change
Disney+ is set to experiment with a release strategy for their upcoming Spider-Man series.
In order to not overlap with the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again, The release strategy for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will be slightly different from what we know.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is a 10-episode animated series that sees Peter Parker (Hudson Thames) in his early days as the crime fighting superhero, Spider-Man. We also learnt that this will occur on a branched timeline where Norman Osborn (Colman Domingo) serves Peter’s mentor. Whereas in the main timeline during Captain America: Civil War we know that Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is the one that recruits and mentors him.
The synopsis reads as follows:
The animated series follows Peter Parker on his way to becoming Spider-Man in the MCU, starting with his freshman year of high school of course. Peter’s journey in the series will be unlike we’ve ever seen and a style that celebrates the character’s early comic book roots.
When Will ‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’ Release?
2025 will be a packed year for Marvel projects, each division (Marvel Studios, Marvel Television and Marvel Animation) will each release 3 projects making for a total of 9 this year. This means that overlap is inevitable if Marvel were to keep a weekly release for each series.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and Daredevil: Born Again were about to overlap until a new article from Dap’s Magic was released which indicates a new release strategy for the animated series. Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will be released in parts beginning with two episodes on January 29th and ending with the final two on February 19th. This would give a two-week gap between the animated series and Daredevil: Born Again.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, written by Jeff Trammell, stars Hudson Thames as Peter Parker / Spider-Man, Colman Domingo as Norman Osborn / Green Goblin, Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock / Daredevil and more. The series premieres with two episodes on Disney+ on January 29th.
