‘Wonder Man’ At CCXP 2025 (Recap)

Today, Disney+ held a panel at the 2025 CCXP to showcase a number of its upcoming projects across its various divisions, one of them being Wonder Man

Wonder Man is an upcoming eight-episode series coming from Shang-Chi And The Legend of the Ten Ring’s director Daniel Destin Cretton, who directs some of the episodes with Andrew Guest serving as a co-creator and showrunner. The project, originally under the Marvel Spotlight category, has seemingly dropped that title and is now considered a limited series though Head of Streaming, Television and Animation, Brad Winderbaum, has indicated that the series could have a second season and beyond if it is received well by audiences. Today, Disney+ held a panel at the 2025 CCXP to showcase a number of its upcoming projects across its various divisions, one of them being Wonder Man

Wonder Man, which is the first of many Marvel projects slated for 2026, is set to premiere on Disney+ on January 27th. The series follows Simon Williams (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), an aspiring actor and huge fan of the original Wonder Man film. With a remake of Wonder Man on its way by acclaimed director Von Kovak (Zlatko Burić), Simon auditions and is close to landing the part but he’ll have to compete with many other actors including Trevor Slattery (Ben Kingsley), who’s also up for the role. Everything is not what it seems when we learn that Simon has superpowers, which he keeps hidden from the world. The official synopsis is as follows:

Aspiring Hollywood actor Simon Williams is struggling to get his career off the ground. During a chance meeting with Trevor Slattery, an actor whose biggest roles may be well behind him, Simon learns legendary director Von Kovak is remaking the superhero film “Wonder Man.” These two actors at opposite ends of their careers doggedly pursue life-changing roles in this film as audiences get a peek behind the curtain of the entertainment industry.

The panel at CCXP opened with Marvel specifically highlighting Wonder Man and the second season of Daredevil: Born Again, both of which are set for release in Early 2026. Attendees saw footage from both projects and today we’ll discuss what was shown for Wonder Man.

After an introduction by Ben Kingsley and Yahya Abdul-Mateen (in character as Trevor and Simon), we saw an exclusive trailer for Magnum.

We meet Simon, an aspiring actor, and discover that Trevor wants to help him become a star. They will have a meeting with an award-winning director, who is producing the remake of a famous superhero movie.

But Simon hides the fact that he has real superpowers! We see a demonstration of his super strength when he destroys a dining table, and it seems that these abilities manifest when he is nervous or anxious.

“You are not your condition. Your vocation is more important,” says Trevor in the narration.
