Kendrick Lamar revealed a new song on Instagram earlier today, which has been titled “Watch The Party Die” by fans.
Lamar posted the new mystery song to Instagram with an album cover of two black Nike Air Force 1s. Listen to the song below via @nfr_podcast on Twitter / X:
As of writing, the song is yet to be released on music platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music. Lamar posted the song with no additional information leaving fans to speculate on the meaning of the song on just its lyrics alone.
The song was released when the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards started which looks to have been done on purpose to draw attention away from the event and the music industry which Lamar critiques. Interestingly, the album image of two Nike Air Force 1s was discovered to be from an Ebay listing today on Twitter / X.
The song starts with the lyrics “I think it’s time to watch the party die” which has been speculated to be referring to Lamar’s feud with Drake earlier this year. The highly publicised beef saw Lamar release five diss tracks against Drake ending with “Not Like Us” which became a Summer hit touting Lamar as the winner.
Earlier this week Lamar was revealed to be performing at next year’s Super Bowl LIX halftime show on February 9, 2025 in an announcement video.
Up next for Lamar is the animated documentary Piece by Piece, which serves as a biopic for Pharrell Williams. The artist is also rumoured to be working on a new album, his first since 2022’s Mr Morale and the Big Steppers.
