DC Animation’s next film, Watchmen: Chapter II, has just released its first trailer ahead of its November release.
Released earlier this year in August, Watchmen: Chapter I was an adaptation of the first six issues of Alan Moore’s iconic graphic novel Watchmen. The story follows an investigation into the murder of a member of a group of government-sanctioned superheroes. Playing key roles in that film were Matthew Rhys as Nite Owl II, Katee Sackhoff as Silk Spectre II, Titus Welliver as Rorschach, Troy Baker as Ozymandias, Rick D. Wasserman as The Comedian, Adrienne Barbeau as Silk Spectre, and Michael Cerveris as Dr. Manhattan.
Since the first movie left the story unfinished, only adapting six out of twelve issues, a further six issues are yet to be explored. This is where Watchmen: Chapter II comes in. Earlier this week, DC and Warner Bros. Animation teamed up with IGN to release our first look at the upcoming animated film. You can watch that teaser, in full, below:
The trailer runs for approximately 130 seconds, giving us our first look at what seems to be an epic conclusion to the duology. The trailer also provided us with our first synopsis for the film, which reads as follows:
“The Comedian has been murdered, the all-powerful Dr. Manhattan has been exiled to Mars, Ozymandias survived an assassination attempt and the outlaw-vigilante Rorschach has been arrested. Suspicious of the events ensnaring their former colleagues, Nite Owl and Silk Spectre are spurred out of retirement to investigate. As they grapple with personal ethics, inner demons and a society turned against them, they race the clock to uncover a deepening plot that might trigger global nuclear war.”
A poster for the film was also released which you can see below:
Watchmen: Chapter II is directed by Brandon Vietti and stars Matthew Rhys, Katee Sackhoff, Titus Welliver, and Troy Baker. It is produced by Warner Bros. Animation and DC Animation and is animated by Studio Mir. The film will officially release on PVOD platforms on November 26th, 2024. In the meanwhile, read our review of Watchmen: Chapter I.
