Following last week’s “St. Chroma” snippet tease and the subsequent announcement of Chromakopia, we now have a full single ahead of the album’s October 28th release. The song is titled “Noid” and has a playtime of 4 minutes 47 seconds. The title is a play on paranoia, specifically around his public image and lack of privacy as an influential rapper.

As a featured artist on the song, WILLOW performs. Tyler’s mother Bonita Smith also makes an appearance in the outro/interlude segment of the song. “Noid” features a chorus that samples Ngozi Family’s “Nizakupanga Ngzo” which is spoken in Chewa and roughly translates to the following:

“When you come at my house, please be respectful. Because I don’t like talking too much. Talking too much breeds gossip.”

A music video was also released featuring Tyler (or perhaps his new alter ego that is theorised to be Chroma the Great). The character walks through a crowd of people before being accosted by a crazed fan. This crazed fan is played by Ayo Edebiri of The Bear fame, who makes a cameo in the music video.

The music video for the song features some borderline psychedelic visuals, which are a product of the chromatic two-tone colour palette. Tyler’s character begins to experience delusions as a product of paranoia, leaving him running around like a headless chicken. A colourised clip of Tyler fighting an imaginary figure while pacing around a concreted area finishes the video and leaves the audience on a final note with the character admitting defeat and looking into the sky, before leaving and skulking off.

It should be noted that the music video for the song isn’t for the full song, but only a portion containing 2 minutes and 42 seconds of the music itself.

Chromakopia is performed, written, produced, and arranged by Tyler, the Creator. The album is scheduled for an October 28, 2024 release.
