Tom Cruise SpaceX Movie No Longer In Development

A new report suggests that Tom Cruise SpaceX movie that has been in development since 2020 has been quietly scrapped.

In an interesting move, Doug Liman’s SpaceX movie is no longer in development according to a new report.

Industry darling and superstar Tom Cruise has reportedly doomed his own movie, according to a new report from Page Six. The film, a movie which Cruise wanted to film in Space aboard the International Space Station with assistance from SpaceX and NASA, has been gestating in development for over five years.

One of the outlet’s sources stated that Cruise, needing permission from the federal government and NASA coordination, has opted to not pursue the film anymore due to what is being described as “political reasons” for not wanting to ask US President Donald Trump for a favour.

This isn’t the first time Tom Cruise has avoided Trump either, turning down an awards presentation earlier this year over a “scheduling conflict.” By now, it’s clear that Cruise is not happy with Donald Trump’s politics.

Lately, Trump has become a big talking point in Hollywood, after reportedly being good friends with Paramount’s ownership and pressuring that company into making Rush Hour 4, which is now in development at the studio. It has also been reported that Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos is also friendly with the media-mogul turned politician.

This isn’t the only Doug Liman film starring Tom Cruise in deep water (pun intended) at the moment, as Deeper, an ocean exploration film with a horror edge, is currently also on the cutting board if funding for the film is not secured, given its planned high budget. That film co-stars Ana de Armas.

Tom Cruise will next appear in Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s next film, Judy, where he will be playing the most powerful man in the world.
