‘The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’ Final Trailer Release Set For March 9th
Before MARIO Day officially kicks off on March 10th, Nintendo is set to release the final trailer for their upcoming film.
On Friday, March 6th the official Nintendo social pages announced an upcoming Super Mario Galaxy Movie Direct, which will include the final trailer for the film. This announcement makes two milestones: the first being less than one month until the film hits theatres on April 1st and secondly, the premiere date of the direct is the day before March 10th which Nintendo fondly refers to as Mario (MAR10) Day.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is no stranger to Nintendo Directs. After being greenlit back in March 2024 (under the name The Super Mario Bros Movie 2), the official title was revealed during the September 12th, 2025 Direct alongside some of the other Super Mario Brothers 40th Anniversary announcements. Two months later on November 12th we saw the premiere of the official trailer which introduced us to some new characters as well as casting Brie Larson as Rosalina and Benny Safdie as Bowser Junior. Finally, on January 25th, 2026 we had a new trailer which introduced Yoshi, a character previously teased in the post-credit scene of The Super Mario Brothers Movie.
Today we’ll discuss when the final trailer will air and what we can expect from the direct.
Starting things off, a new poster for the film was released alongside the direct announcement. It features the main cast of characters with a few surprises such as Wart (who can be seen in the bottom left corner), you can view the poster below:
Wart’s appearance resembles that of a toad wearing a crown, he first appears for western audiences in 1988’s Super Mario Bros. 2 on the Nintendo Entertainment System. Wart leads a gang known as “8 Bits” and he’s mainly known for trying to conquer Subcon, also known as the land of dreams.
When Will The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Direct Air?
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Direct 3.9.2026 will premiere at 2:00 PM PT / 5:00 PM ET. Please be reminded that as of today, March 8th, 2026, Daylight Savings has officially ended. The direct will be streamed on the official Nintendo Today! App and on YouTube, which you can view below:
In addition to the final trailer, we can expect a few words from Shigeru Miyamoto and Chris Meledandri. It’s unclear if there will be any new casting announcements.
Finally, Nintendo once again states that there will be no game information in this direct. We’ll have to wait until March 10th to see whether Nintendo announces anything new, but for now, Nintendo is currently running a sale on a select number of Mario games, which lasts until March 15th.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic. The film stars Chris Pratt as Mario, Charlie Day as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Jack Black as Bowser and more. The film hits theatres on April 1st, 2026.
