The synopsis for the film reads as follows:

After requesting a pickup from DEA Agent Matty Nix, Lieutenant Dane Dumars (Damon), Detective Sergeant JD Byrne (Affleck), and Detective Mike Ro (Steven Yeun) board the vehicle with the bags of money, leaving Detective Numa Baptiste (Teyana Taylor) and Detective Lolo Salazar (Catalina Sandino Moreno) with the money detection dog and the owner of the house, Desiree Molina (Sasha Calle), in custody.

In the armoured vehicle, as they travel, Dumars and Byrne grill Ro about his shady behaviour that night. Dumars revealed that he secretly made Desi believe that he, Baptiste, and Salazar were going to rob the rip, and by deduction of who knew the amount of money they were tipped off for, it’s revealed that Ro was the snitch who jeopardised the rip.

Ro uses his burner phone in the van to redial the person who was making the threatening calls in the rip house, and it is revealed to be Matty, who promptly shoots Ro, and tries to shoot Dumars and Byrne. Matty claims Ro killed Dumars and Byrnes previous captain, Jackie Velez (Lina Esco), but Ro says Matty pulled the trigger. On the floor and at gunpoint, Byrne takes a phone call and puts it on speaker, and its revealed that FBI Agent Del Byrne (Scott Adkins) is tracking their movement, and stops the armoured vehicle at the blockade.

Ro tries shooting them and attempts to escape, whilst Matty makes his own escape with a bag of money, leading Dumars and Byrne to chase them respectively. Ro is apprehended by Dumars, and Matty is killed after it is revealed that the bag of money was filled with phone books rather than money.

The money is brought to the authorities by Baptiste and Salazar, with Molina in tow. Molina is handed part of the rip as compensation for her abuela’s home burning down, and all is well in the task force with Dumars and Byrne finding closure for the death of Jackie. They go to the beach and watch the sunrise.
