‘The Pitt’ Season 2 Episode 8 Review: Cyber Shutdown? No Problem
Another week, another episode of The Pitt. Here is our review for The Pitt Season 2 Episode 8 which is out now.
The Pitt Season 2 Episode 8 picks back up at 2:00 PM as we go through another hour of the show; here is our review for it.
Episode 7 ended with a cyber shutdown that resulted in the shutdown of all the computer systems in The Pitt. The hospital relies on those systems in order to assign and manage patients, so losing that is a major loss. As we saw last episode, Whitaker took a picture of the patient board, but it turns out the picture he took was way too blurry to read.
Luckily Joy comes in clutch with a photographic memory to save the day. She recites every single patient on the chart along with their room number and doctors and their assigned problem.

We also see a lot of old tech coming in that the younger doctors are unfamiliar with which everyone struggles to adapt to. With Dana helping last week’s sexual assault victim with a rape kit, Princess is now the charge nurse, which she clearly does not want. It becomes clear why relatively quickly. It’s all a chaotic mess, and Dana is the only one who knows how to manage it.
An overweight patient comes in to The Pitt and is the best part of the patient side in the episode. As with many issues, there is a social commentary on this, mostly with how Ogilvie reacts to the patient’s weight. I thought it was handled really well, and the actual doctoring was fun to watch as well.
We also learn more about Mel’s deposition. We find out that it relates to a patient from Season 1 of the show. Her nerves really show the closer it gets, and it seems we’re almost there. Episode 9 will likely feature that storyline, and I really hope they actually show it. Mel has been underserved this season thus far, and this would be the perfect way to feature her more prominently.

We also finally see Santos and Langdon working together for the first time this season and it’s about as awkward as you’d expect it to be.
Adding on to her MVP campaign, Joy also diagnoses a patient in an instant—one that both Ogilvie and Javadi were struggling with.
All in all I’d say it’s a very solid entry into The Pitt. The next episode seems pretty crazy and we might finally be entering true chaos.
