‘The Pitt’ Season 2 Episode 2 Review: Fun Interactions
Another week, another episode of the Pitt. Here is our review for The Pitt Season 2 Episode 2 which is out now.
The Pitt Season 2 Episode 2 picks back up at 8:00 AM as we go through another rather eventful hour of The Pitt; here is our review for it.
Season 2 is very in line with the formula that came with Season 1. The first few episodes feature a lot of setup for conjoining character arcs and such that would be deeply explored throughout the 15 episodes. The setup itself is very apparent and done pretty well, all things considered.
Among those interactions that started with Episode 1 of the season is Dr. Al-Hashimi and Robby, who have major differences of opinion on how to run the hospital, which the writers make clear every time they interact. While it’s possible it gets tiring later on, for now it’s actually really fun watching everyone around them adjust to their differing methods. This episode in particular, it becomes clear Robby prefers his doctors to use their gut and rely more on their instinct, which Dr. Al-Hashimi clearly isn’t in favor of.

Another major one is the use of AI. Al-Hashimi cites statistics on why AI is so useful to the hospital multiple times throughout the episode. Her entire philosophy boils down to AI making their jobs easier, and the doctors would be able to spend more time with patients rather than spending time on charting.
This back-and-forth feels like a season-long arc that does make an impact for the hospital in the end where they reach some sort of middle ground between technology (in this case AI) and the issues that come with it, but I do hope there are some fun turns along the way instead of a straightforward arc.
Another fascinating one is Landgon and Mel. This is the only positive conjoining arc thus far and it’s a nice change of pace. Mel is going through her first-ever lawsuit and has a deposition later in the day and on top of that, in this episode, a fugitive who she’s treating runs into her, which causes her to be admitted into the Pitt as a temporary patient. This sets up some good conversation between these two characters, where Langdon reveals why he was away.

In what is perhaps a mini-arc, we see Javadi go up against Ogilvie, a medical student being mentored by Whitaker, in a competition between know-it-alls. They both try to one-up each other by showing off their medical knowledge as an amused Robby and Samira just watch on, testing them to see who budges first. This was a really fun pocket of the episode.
The actual patient material this episode was just fine. There’s been nothing really special, but it’s understandable considering we’re just getting started. What was amusing was a fully erect penis being shown on the show. That’s not something I ever expected to see on what is a network-style TV show but it fits quite well given the nature of the show, as the patient has erectile dysfunction and took too many injections to fix that issue. This being a streaming show helps in this regard because most network shows would never be allowed despite the nudity being medical rather than sexual in any way.
While I do enjoy these build-up episodes, I would be lying if I said I wasn’t expecting for an explosion of sorts where there’s a little more chaos. For now this is perfectly serviceable TV that I’m excited to watch more of every week.

The series stars Wyle as Dr. Robby, Patrick Ball as Dr. Langdon, Katherine LaNasa as Dana Evans, Supriya Ganesh as Dr. Mohan, Fiona Dourif as Dr. McKay, Taylor Dearden as Dr. King, Isa Briones as Dr. Santos, Gerran Howell as Whitaker, Shabana Azeez as Javadi, and Sepideh Moafi as Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi. It airs on HBO Max, and the first episode is out on Jan 8th.
