Osgood Perkins’ follow-up to Longlegs, The Monkey, has just released its first trailer showcasing absolute carnage.
Collaborating with Neon again, Osgood Perkins is aiming big but more fun with 2025’s The Monkey. While this isn’t the first footage technically, with a short 45-second teaser advertising the talent, we now have a full-length teaser coming in at a little under 90 seconds.
The trailer is a bit all over the place (by design), shrouding the plot in mystery and lots of blood. There’s a stench of death about the trailer, highlighting a sinister little toy monkey. We see the moments before many deaths, particularly one woman about to dive into an electrified swimming pool.

The film is adapting a story by Stephen King, also titled The Monkey, which follows a set of twins who find a cursed cymbal-banging monkey in an attic, which has a tendency to kill people around the twins. The film’s official synopsis reads as follows:
“When twin brothers Hal and Bill discover their father’s old monkey toy in the attic, a series of gruesome deaths start occurring all around them. The brothers decide to throw the monkey away and move on with their lives, growing apart over the years. But when the mysterious deaths begin again, the brothers must reunite to find a way to destroy the monkey for good before it takes the lives of everyone close to them.”
The Monkey is written and directed by Osgood Perkins and stars Theo James, Christian Convery, Tatiana Maslany, Elijah Wood, Colin O’Brien, Rohan Campbell, and Sarah Levy. The film is distributed by Neon and will be released in theatres worldwide on February 21, 2025.
