Following the explosive success of Gen V and The Boys season 4, fans have been eager for updates regarding the fifth and final season of the show. Now,it has been revealed by the team behind the show and star Jensen Ackles that two familiar faces have joined the extensive ensemble for the series. You can watch the announcement below:
In the video, Ackles starts off by talking to Padalecki and stating “Hey, Jared, we got work to do, again…,” before the clip cuts to the Sam Winchester actor who says “Okay, I’ll tell Misha. Misha we got work to do.” The announcement ends with Misha Collins saying “Okay! What are we doing?”

The announcement marks a full circle moment for Kripke, Ackles, Padalecki, and Collins, with the four having worked together on the initial instalment of Supernatural, in which Kripke created and the trio starred. It is unknown whether the trio will share screentime with another Supernatural star, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who made his The Boys debut in season 4 as a hallucination that stands by Butcher (Karl Urban) ala Fight Club.
The Boys follows a group of vigilantes who task themselves with the destruction of the oppressive superhero regime ‘The Seven’, backed by the corporation Vought. Last season saw our titular Boys (Jack Quaid’s Hughie, Erin Moriarty’s Starlight, Laz Alonso’s Mother’s Milk, Tomer Capone’s Frenchie and Karen Fukuhara’s Kimiko) being kidnapped by several Gen V characters under the order of Homelander, who assumed ultimate power after ghost-winning an election.
Jensen Ackles plays Soldier Boy, the mouthy superhero who fought for Vought back in WWII. He returned to the present day and made his debut in The Boys season 3, before being placed in cryosleep for the majority of season 4, returning in the final episode after being awoken by Antony Starr’s Homelander.

The Boys season 5 is expected to come to Prime Video in 2026. Also in development for the streamer is an array of projects expected to expand the universe even more, including the second season of Gen V, The Boys: Mexico, and Soldier-Boy-Stormfront (Aya Cash) spinoff series Vought Rising, following the rise of Vought and its early heroes.
