‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Begins Filming in Glasgow, Suit Revealed

As filming begins for the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie, Sony has decided to get ahead of set leaks and photos by officially releasing the first look at the new suit

‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Begins Filming in Glasgow, Suit Revealed

After dropping a teaser yesterday and building up a lot of hype, Sony has officially revealed the new suit that will be donned by the titular character in his next movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is now filming.

What makes it stand out isn’t just the sleek design or upgraded tech, but how it visually pays homage to Peter Parker’s (Tom Holland) evolution across his journey in the MCU so far. It’s a smart blend of legacy and renewal, combining the best elements of the suits we’ve seen before into something that feels both familiar and fresh. The deep red and navy blue base clearly draws from his original Stark-designed suit from Spider-Man: Homecoming, giving it that classic Spider-Man silhouette fans love.

This also reflects Spidey’s more classic suits, hinting that this movie could act as an ‘origin’ of sorts. Since we never actually got to see the origin story of this Spider-Man, this movie would be the perfect place to tread some of those steps and see Peter starting out again and with everyone forgetting his identity, this is the ideal space for that.

Also revealed yesterday, by THR, was that Hulk and Scorpion would officially return for the movie.

Scorpion’s return makes perfect sense. He was introduced as Mac Gargan (played by Better Call Saul’s Michael Mando) back in Spider-Man: Homecoming and ever since that post-credits scene hinted at a grudge against Peter, fans have been waiting to see him suit up. Scorpion is the perfect kind of antagonist for this more grounded Peter as he is dangerous yet small and not an overpowered cosmic threat. Including him alongside other potential minor villains like Tombstone or Boomerang suggests a street-level criminal underworld may be forming, possibly setting up a Sinister Six-type ensemble or even a turf war storyline.

In many ways, Bruce [Banner] and Peter are two sides of the same coin – both scientifically brilliant and burdened by powers they didn’t ask for. With Tony Stark no longer in the picture, Bruce (MCU mainstay Mark Ruffalo) stepping into the mentor role makes emotional and narrative sense.

But what’s even more intriguing is the idea that Bruce could be somehow connected to the spider that bit Peter. If the MCU decides to reintroduce or clarify Peter’s origin, something it has largely glossed over, linking the radioactive spider to experiments tied to Banner or Stark technology could bring Peter’s story closer to the broader MCU. Maybe the spider wasn’t just a random accident; maybe it was tied to a program replicating the Super Soldier Serum or even a side effect of gamma radiation experiments.

It has long been rumoured that Mr Negative could be the villain of this movie and with the logo of the Inner Demons visible on the set, it’s looking more likely. If Bruce is still dealing with his internal balance as Smart Hulk, Mr. Negative’s influence could destabilise that balance and unleash the repressed, uncontrollable Savage Hulk.

This would lead to The Punisher (played by The Bear star Jon Bernthal) and Spider-Man teaming up to take on the rampaging Hulk as he rushes through the streets of New York. Of course, it seems inevitable that they will eventually stop him and all group together to take down the big bad at the end, but Hulk could remain forever changed and the balance they had found to create Smart Hulk could be damaged, leading to the two halves being separated once again.
