‘Spider-Man 4’ Officially Lands July 2026 Release Date
Tom Holland will officially return as the titular webslinger in Spider-Man 4, which has now been slated for release on July 24, 2026.
Tom Holland will officially return as the titular webslinger in Spider-Man 4, which now has a release date of July 24, 2026.

We all expected this news to be coming after Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures announced that they were releasing a joint project on July 24th 2026, and now it has officially been confirmed. Earlier this week, on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Holland confirmed that the fourth movie in the Spider-Man franchise would begin production in mid 2025, with shooting taking place over the summer, meaning a 2026 release was most likely.
“Next summer, we start shooting.” Holland stated. “Super exciting. I can’t wait!”
This marks the 7th appearance for Holland as the titular character after appearing in three standalone films, all helmed by Jon Watts: Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home. He also appeared in the most recent Avengers movies and made his debut in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War.
The movie will release just after Avengers: Doomsday, which releases on May 1, 2026 and before Avengers: Secret Wars, which comes out in 2027. This is a very similar gap to the one held by Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home, with the latter releasing just two months after Endgame and going on to gross over $1 billion globally at the box office – a promising sign for what’s to come.
Only last month it was reported that Destin Daniel Cretton had come on board and would direct the movie, taking over directing duties from Jon Watts. Marvel choosing Cretton comes as no surprise considering how well his collaboration with Marvel Studios worked previously. He made a mark by directing Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in 2021, which was notoriously praised for its ability to balance spectacular action sequences with deep, emotional storytelling. This blend of action and a personal, heart-filled narrative is typically known as one of the key traits for Spider-Man, whose stories often revolve around Peter Parker’s personal struggles, alongside his heroic duties.
In addition to Shang-Chi, Cretton’s has a large body of work, though he is perhaps known most for the critically acclaimed film Just Mercy starring Michael B Jordan. Cretton has also been involved in the upcoming Disney+ series Wonder Man, showing his growing influence in Marvel’s cabinet. Whilst he was original attached to direct The Kang Dynasty, it seems that his removal from this project did not lead to any turmoil with Marvel as they continue to work together, even on their biggest projects. The announcement of his involvement in Spider-Man 4 is further proof of Marvel’s trust in his vision. While no plot details have been confirmed yet, everyone is no doubt excited to see what Cretton will take from his other films and bring to the Spider-Man universe and how it will play into the next stage of Peter Parker’s journey.

The next chapter in Spider-Man’s journey will release in cinemas on July 24, 2026.
