Pusha T and Travis Scott Beef Explained
Pusha T dissed Travis Scott on his latest track “So Be It”. Here is the rundown of when, where, and why he did it.
If you’re confused by the Pusha T and Travis Scott beef, you’re in the right place. It might seem random that Pusha T is going after Travis at first glance, and maybe even second, but when you hear his side, it becomes clear why he decided to initiate the beef in a public setting.
For those who may not know, Pusha T, along with his brother Malice, in a duo known as Clipse, earlier this week released a single, “So Be It,” from their upcoming album, Let God Sort Em Out. In this, he threw some shots at Travis Scott.
The Diss
Fuckin’ with P, get somethin’ immediate
Your soul don’t like your body, we helped you free it
Then we wait for TMZ to leak it
It ain’t no secrets, so be it, so be it
“Fuckin’ with P” likely refers to Pharrell. The gist of the rest seems to be that Travis Scott has done something worthy of being exposed on TMZ, but it isn’t quite clear on what that might be.
You cried in front of me, you died in front of me
Calabasas took your bitch and your pride in front of me
Her Utopia had moved right up the street
And her lip gloss was poppin’, she ain’t need you to eat
The ‘net gon’ call it the way that they see it
But I got the video, I can share and A.E. it
They wouldn’t believe it, but I can’t unsee it
Lucky I ain’t TMZ it, so be it, so be it
(This is culturally inappropriate)
Pusha T exposes the fact that Travis cried in front of him, presumably when Kylie Jenner, Scott’s ex-wife left him. Calabasas, a city in LA county, likely refers to either the Kardashians as a whole or maybe even the idea of Hollywood, considering she’s now dating Timothée Chalamet. He claims he has the video of Travis crying, but he hasn’t exposed it because he’s not like TMZ.
He also refers to Kylie’s makeup company, making her a billionaire, so she has no use for Travis. “AE it” refers to Anthony Edwards, the NBA star who is infamous for getting women pregnant. In one of those instances, Edwards told one of those women to “Send Da Video” referring to an abortion. Pusha uses this to claim he still has the video, and he’s able to expose it if he wants.
Pusha T’s Explanation

Pusha T was interviewed at GQ where he explained his side of the beef.
“The true context of that is we were in Paris, literally working, and he was calling to play P his new album. He came to Pharrell’s studio at Louis Vuitton H. He interrupted a session. He sees me and Malice there. He’s like, ‘Oh, man, everybody’s here,’ he’s smiling, laughing, jumping around, doing his fucking monkey dance. We weren’t into the music, but he wanted to play it, wanted to film us and Pharrell listening to it. And then a week later you hear “Meltdown”, He played the song, but not Drake’s verse”.
“So, that’s where my issue comes in—like, dawg, don’t even come over here with that, because at the end of the day, I don’t play how y’all play. To me, that really was just like…he’s a whore. He’s a whore”
For those who may not know, Drake dissed Pharrell on “Meltdown”. Drake bought Pharrell’s jewelry in an auction and uses the song’s title Meltdown to play into that fact, and claims he’ll melt down his jewelry. In the same verse, he dissed Pusha T over their past beef in which Drake lost.
Pusha T dislikes that Travis Scott let Drake do that to him and Pharrell Williams. His issue is that Travis tries to play all the sides hence why he calls him a whore. He’s cool with everyone, but he’s allowing Drake to go at those two on his song, one he played for them earlier that week.
It has been documented that Drake sent in his verse last minute so Travis didn’t omit Drake’s verse when he played it for them. It’s more of him letting Drake say that and releasing it while being cool with the two.
The Background

For those who may not know, there’s a connection between Pharrell, Pusha T, and Travis that goes back a long way, which is likely why Pusha T felt a certain way about the situation.
Clipse, a rap duo consisting of Pusha T and his older brother, Malice, was formed in 1994. The group first disbanded in 2010 as both went on to their own solo careers. Pusha T signed on with Kanye West’s GOOD Music label. He released multiple critically acclaimed albums alongside Kanye.
Travis Scott, around the same time, signed on to Kanye’s GOOD Music label as an in-house producer. Travis was involved in the production of a lot of Kanye’s work from 2012 and 2013, including Yeezus and Cruel Summer (including a track Pusha T featured on).

Pharrell Williams is also someone Pusha T has worked with a lot through the years, even going back as far as his Clipse days. In fact, their tight knit relationship was recently showcased in the LEGO animated film Piece by Piece. Pharrell produced 7 songs off Pusha T’s latest album, It’s Almost Dry. Kanye produced 5 as well. All three have had close working relationships with each other over the years, and Travis has been around all of them.
Pharrell has been producing songs for Travis since 2015, and even had a hand in Utopia on “Looove”. Point being, Travis is close with Pharrell and Kanye, who are both close to Pusha T, and he’s also been in the mix with Pusha himself. Travis clearly wanted their approval when he played it for them, and even recorded their reactions.
Drake and Pusha T have been beefing for years. In the eyes of the public, Pusha T demolished Drake with “The Story of Adidon”, where he exposed that Drake was hiding a son. Drake has since been throwing shots at Pusha in multiple tracks. And Travis has also been a frequent collaborator with Drake.

Travis has been playing every single side. He did the same thing in the beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar (and Future). He wanted Future to play “Like That” before it was released, which Pusha T references in his podcast appearance on “Popcast” of Travis trying to play all the sides.
In the same interview, he went on to call Travis harmless, and calls him corny to coming to Pharrell’s studio where he shouldn’t have been and doing that, then allowing Drake to do that. He also reiterated that Travis had in fact cried in front of him, and he had to put his shoulder on him in a consoling manner.
