Official ‘Marvel Rivals’ Season 3 Trailer: Rise of Knull

Marvel Rivals Season 2: “Hellfire Gala” is coming to a close and with only 10 days left it’s time to see what players can look forward to in the next season. With that in mind, the official trailer for Season 3 titled “The Abyss Awakens” has been released. This new trailer teases the villain of the season, Knull, followed by new members joining the roster, Blade and Jean Grey / Phoenix. With these new additions, the roster now consists of 41 different heroes. Players won’t have to wait long to try these characters out thanks to the decision of two-month long seasons (starting with Season 3) which means that we can expect the Jean Grey / Phoenix in July and Blade in August.

The key art for this season also teases some new skins. We will receive a Phoenix Force Wolverine and Magik skin sometime in the future, a Phoenix Force Moon Knight skin was recently added to the shop. Additionally there are symbiote-themed skins for Jeff The Land Shark and Hela (who appears to go by the “Queen in Black” title), a Symbiote Captain America skin was also added to the shop recently. Finally, Blade gets a skin which appears to be a fusion of both Phoenix Force and Symbiote which will likely be released alongside his debut.

What Happens In The Marvel Rivals Season 3 Trailer?

The trailer opens with Hela meeting with Knull, he turns her into one of his servants. He says “After eons, another comes to my Klyntar… To me my queen in Black.” After the Marvel Games and NetEase Games logos we open to a shot of Klyntar, a fire engulfs part of the planet and we see the Phoenix flying down followed by Jean Grey. A swarm of ravens attack the Phoenix. Hela, now Queen in Black holds her dagger to Jean’s throat.

Before she can deliver the final blow, Blade swoops in to stop her, the fire of the phoenix is infused in his sword and he goes after Hela. The animation style changes and the two continue their fight until we get a new shot of Jean with the Phoenix fusing with her. She and the Phoenix assist Blade in fighting off Hela, Blade now gets a Phoenix Force / Symbiote fusion inspired outfit. Hela returns and surrounds the two with Symbiotes, she says “Knull is coming and time will spiral into Darkness.” After the Marvel Rivals logo, we get a shot of Knull smiling followed by this season’s Key Art.

The official synopsis for Season 3, “The Abyss Awakens”, is as follows:

In the wake of the Timestream Entanglement, Knull stirs deep within Klyntar’s core, stretching his shadowed hands across the cosmos. Power promised by the dark symbiote god beckons the awakening of a new queen. The Phoenix arrives from across the stars to erase Klyntar before the darkness can rise again! However, she’ll require unlikely aid from a warrior of two worlds who lives to fight against the tide of night.

As the god of the symbiotes and the Phoenix Force collide, will you burn with the light of creation or embrace the darkness?

Marvel Rivals is developed by NetEase and is available for free on PC, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. Season 3: “The Abyss Awakens” launches on July 11th.
