It’s been nearly 30 years since the late rapper and producer Biggie Smalls passed away. In that time, the music industry has gone through big changes. Now, a new documentary centered on The Notorious B.I.G. titled Big95 is in production.
According to our sources, Big95 follows a group of filmmakers for the British television show Passengers in 1995, as they accidentally misreport their viewership numbers and book Biggie Smalls onto their 5 million viewer show. The interview with Biggie was initially supposed to be a quick 15 minute ordeal, but the filmmakers get more than they bargained for when given the opportunity to follow Biggie around New York and Los Angeles for extra footage over the course of a week.

Sources tell us that this film will also be an honest look into the life of Biggie. Included in the documentary is never before seen footage of the artist and interviews with his mother, Violette Williams, who digs into her son’s humble beginnings. There are also multiple animated music video segments and the documentary will also explore Death Row Records, Biggie’s faith, and his personal inspirations. We have also been told by sources that the current cut of Big95 is around a lengthy 3 hours long.
Feature First has also exclusively learned of a 3 hour runtime, making this the most extensive Biggie documentary ever. There is also heavy AI usage in the film, both used to create and enhance footage from the time, though it is unknown if this is temporary and will be removed for the final cut.
