‘Marvel Zombies’ Trailer: Undead Terror Awaits
The zombie invasion continues in the first trailer for the What If…? spin-off series.
Marvel Studios has released the trailer for Marvel Zombies. Here is the breakdown.
What If…? premiered on Disney+ on August 11, 2021 shortly after the Multiverse was “set free” during Loki Season One. The first season of the anthology series featured different takes on numerous films from the Infinity Saga of the MCU such as Iron Man, Captain America: The First Avenger and Avengers: Age of Ultron narrated by our guide, Uatu the Watcher (Jeffrey Wright). On September 8, 2021, the fifth episode of season one was released, titled “What If… Zombies?!”, a loose adaptation of the comic run of the same name. The episode set around the time of Avengers: Infinity War featured a zombie virus originating from the Quantum Realm that quickly infected the entire planet. The remaining survivors are left searching for a way to stop this outbreak.
During the first Disney+ Day in November 2021, Marvel Zombies was one of the many Marvel projects announced for development. This would be one of the first TV-MA series coming from Marvel Studios (now Marvel Animation). The series would showcase the events after the reveal of a zombified Thanos. During Marvel Studios Animation’s panel at the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con, attendees got their first look at the series featuring the same art style used in What If…? The cast was grand, featuring characters all throughout the Multiverse Saga such as Kate Bishop, Ms. Marvel, Death Dealer, and even some Black Widows and Skrulls. There were even zombified versions of characters such as Captain Marvel, Ikaris, and Abomination.
Footage for the series would be shown behind closed doors for the most part but on October 30th, 2024 in the “Marvel Studios | Look Ahead | Disney+” promo video, we got a glimpse at the upcoming series featuring a unique take on a long-awaited character in the form of Blade Knight, a variant of Eric Brooks who becomes the Fist of Khonshu (we would later see a full look at the character in the finale of What If..? Season 3). After some delays, the series will premiere with all four episodes on September 24th, 2025 on Disney+.
Today, the first trailer for the upcoming TV-MA series Marvel Zombies has been released, and you can view it below:

What Happens in the Marvel Zombies Trailer?

We open with a zombie in the forest where the warning “The following preview is rated TV-MA” is shown. The zombie is shot in the head with an arrow, BABYMETAL’s “from me to u” plays in the background. The word “Marvel” flashes on screen followed by a group of zombies running down a staircase. “Animation” then appears with a zombie in military clothing waking up. “Presents” is followed by Shang Chi and Katy running from zombies when a train car almost hits them with Zombie Doctor Strange on board. We see a shot of Zombie General Okoye in the rain with an army of zombies behind her at a dock. Helicopters are shooting the zombies in the middle of the city.
A zombie in white clothing punches someone’s heart out of their chest. We see Zombie Okoye alongside zombified versions of Hawkeye, Abomination, Ghost, and Captain America. Zombie Abomination leaps from afar, chasing after someone. A red light is seen in the distance, likely Zombie Wanda. Zombie Hawkeye readies his bow, Zombie Captain America screams and Okoye is seen standing with all the zombies. During that sequence, Yelena says “All the Avengers are dead, and they’re coming for us.” We see a shot of Yelena followed by a group of zombies running towards someone.
We see a brief glimpse of who appears to be Blade Knight indicated by his sword. We cut to a shot of Shang Chi, he says “Alright, we got a world to save.” Shang Chi and Katy, both using the ten rings, are fighting off zombies with other survivors. They appear to be in a prison-like area that’s currently being flooded, likely indicating it’s The Raft. We see flashes of one of the zombies. Red Guardian, Yelena, Kamala Khan are in shock. Blade Knight says “Namor.” Zombie Namor screams and then he cuts someone in half. We see Kate Bishop for a moment, she says “S***”. Then the words “On Sept 24” appear. Someone is ripped in half. We see Jimmy Woo shout “Oh my God!” He’s seen alongside Katy and Shang Chi. A zombie’s head explodes, the words “Who Will Save Us?” covered in blood appear on screen.

We see Zombie Thanos, who last appeared at the end of What If…? Season 1, Episode 5 “What If… Zombies?!” followed by the survivors of that group: Scott Lang’s Head (With Doctor Strange’s Cape), Black Panther and Spider-Man leaping into battle. We see Spider-Man attaching his web to a number of zombies. He proceeds to rip their heads off. “From Our Heroes?” Appears on screen, with the Bifrost bringing down two characters. We see a powered-up Thor ready to face Wanda and her minions head-on. She readies her magic. An explosion is seen in the middle of zombies, we see someone shooting zombies from a helicopter in the city.
We get a close-up of Blade Knight. In the reflection of his Blade is a glimpse of Khonsu. Zombie Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne rush towards him, one of them is then sliced in half. Zombie Ghost tries to attack Kamala Khan, Red Guardian, Yelena, and Blade Knight. Blade Knight faces off against her, Ghost uses her phasing abilities to gain the upper edge but Blade’s fast reflexes counters her and he manages to stab her in the stomach. Ghost coughs up some blood and Blade cuts her into pieces. Yelena says “Woah, that’s how you do that then.” Kamala is impressed and the Red Guardian says, “Wow.”
The Marvel Zombies logo appears on screen alongside the Marvel Animation logo and the caption “Streaming September 24th” with some spots of blood is shown alongside it. A list of the cast filled with MCU Actors reprising their roles appears, including Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd, Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Tessa Thompson, Simu Liu, Awkwafina, Hailee Steinfeld, Wyatt Russell, Randall Park, Iman Vellani and Dominique Thorne. The final shot is someone being jump scared by a zombie.
