‘Marvel Rivals’ Season 5 to Feature New Social Mode & Free Emote

The latest Marvel Rivals Dev Vision is here, Volume 11 discusses all the new features coming to the game’s fifth season which includes a new game mode focused on having players interact with one another. This new “social hub” was inspired by the meetups that the community has made happen in Doom Match, the social mode coming to Marvel Rivals can support up to a whopping one hundred players will be set in Times Square, New York one of the prime locations of the Marvel universe. 

The new mode isn’t explained much besides Guangguang mention that you can hangout with other players but one thing stood out the most, “watching videos”. Perhaps this mode will be used as a new way to introduce upcoming additions to the game such as new limited time events, character trailers, season trailers, new item shop skins and more. With New York being the setting for so many of the events that have taken place throughout Marvel history perhaps this new mode could also be used for live events.

What Happens In The Times Square Map Reveal Trailer?

Shortly after the release of Dev Vision Volume 11, the Map Reveal Trailer for Times Square for the social mode was released on the Marvel Rivals social pages. The trailer opens with a shot in the center of Times Square. We see a few more angles of the map followed by a large group of players celebrating each doing their own sets of emotes. We cut to a group of Spider-Man players using the pointing remote. There we see a store called “Van Dynes” which teases some of the upcoming first anniversary cosmetics.

A wide shot of Times Square shows various advertisements, including the victory screen for one of the Wakanda maps, the Big Shot Iron Man costume, and a big poster advertising Rivals’ Day (The First Anniversary Event). We see a group of characters hosting a book club using the reading emote. A group of Emma Frost and Hela are dancing in front of the bank followed by Mantis and Invisible Woman playing Volleyball in front of an audience. We see a store in the background advertising comics, specifically the Marvel Unlimited app.

In front of the Avengers’ Gift Shop, we see the team consisting of Thor, Iron Man, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Captain America and Hulk having a face-off with a group of Ultron. We then cut to one of the most interesting parts of the trailer: a large group is seen sitting in front of a screen showing clips from Avengers Infinity War. This confirms that players will be able to see promotional videos for content outside of Marvel Rivals such as upcoming films and series. Perhaps this mode can be used for world premieres of certain projects. Throughout the trailer, we’ve also seen teases to Wilson Fisk and a wanted poster for Black Cat, while it’s unclear whether we’ll see them added to the game anytime soon it’s good to know the possibility is there.

How To Unlock Free “Take A Seat” Emote

To celebrate the launch of the new social mode, players will be able to pick up the free “Take A Seat” Emote Combo Bundle in the item shop. The bundle is only available for a week from November 14th to November 21st, 2025. At launch the emote will support 17 characters with support for more characters coming in the future. The launch characters include: Jeff The Land Shark, Psylocke, Invisible Woman, Emma Frost, Phoenix, Daredevil, Angela, Gambit, Loki, Rocket Raccoon, Cloak & Dagger, Magik, Luna Snow, Squirrel Girl, Venom, Magneto and Winter Soldier. This emote is sure to make watching videos and hanging out feel even more immersive.

Marvel Rivals is developed by NetEase Games in collaboration with Marvel Games. The game is available for free on PC, PlayStation 4/5 and Xbox Series X|S. The social mode will arrive on November 14th, The “Take A Seat” Emote Bundle is available for free from November 14th to November 21st.
