‘Marvel Rivals’ Path To Doomsday Roadmap: What To Expect
As we approach the next event film for the MCU, NetEase has planned a number of Infinity Saga related content.
Last Night, NetEase hosted their Marvel Rivals Assemble: Exclusive One Night Fan Event which featured a number of announcements, live panels, giveaways, a cosplay contest and live musical performance. The event promised a number of new content for this year including a number of new PvE Modes. Today we’ll discuss the highlight of the event, the Marvel Rivals Path To Doomsday Roadmap which will celebrate every Avengers film with special game modes and in-game events as we countdown to the release of Avengers: Doomsday.
April 2026 – The Avengers Inspired Event

Starting off in April we’ll have an event inspired by The Avengers. This is the first Avengers film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). This film follows the Avengers as they team up to face off against Loki (Tom Hiddleston), who plans to enslave Earth and become its ruler. Loki is aided by the Chitauri army after promising to give up the Tesseract in exchange. Read the official synopsis below:
“When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins.”
We already have our first details on The Avengers inspired event, it’s an asymmetrical game mode where one player (as Loki) faces off against a team of six players. Loki will be equipped with a number of new abilities to even the playing field. A Loki outfit inspired by the film will also be available, it’s unclear if the outfit will be a free reward from the event or be added to the Item Shop. We’ll probably see a modified version of the “Empire of Eternal Night: Midtown” map for the mode as well.
With Season 7 starting on March 20th, the Avengers event could begin around the launch of Season 7.5 on April 17th.
While details on future Avengers themed events will be released closer to their individual debuts, we can still speculate about what the events can entail.
June 2026 – Avengers: Age Of Ultron Inspired Event

Next up is 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, in this film the Avengers face off against Ultron (James Spader), a rogue AI created from tampering with the Mind Stone. Read the official synopsis below:
“When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to the Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure.”
It’s unclear how this event may function, it could be similar to The Avengers event giving Ultron a boost and seeing the return of the Ultron Bots or perhaps it could be the first PvE mode of the year as players team up to face off against an army of Ultron Bots and eventually Ultron himself. With Ultron being a playable character, there’s no doubt that he’ll receive an outfit inspired by the film. Perhaps a Sokovia inspired map will be made exclusively for this event as well.
The Avengers: Age of Ultron event could begin around the launch of Season 8.5 on June 19th.
August 2026 – Avengers: Infinity War Inspired Event

In August we’ll have an event inspired by part one of the two-part conclusion of the Infinity Saga. In 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War, the Mad Titan Thanos is ready to enact his plan to wipe out half of all life in the universe and he comes to Earth to retrieve the remaining Infinity Stones, Gems that control the fabric of the universe and when combined can allow the user to do anything their heart desires. Thanos manages to achieve his goal in the film, changing the world forever. Read the official synopsis below:
“As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats too large for any one hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows: Thanos. A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality. Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment – the fate of Earth and existence itself has never been more uncertain.”
Unlike Loki and Ultron, Thanos has not been added to Marvel Rivals which could point to the character being added in August as part of the event. Should Thanos be added, we’ll also have an outfit inspired by the film, likely his casual look with the Infinity Gauntlet, this would be the second Avengers: Infinity War inspired outfit following Captain America’s Outfit. In terms of game mode, we could see another PVP mode set in Wakanda where the final battle of Avengers: Infinity War was set.
The Avengers: Infinity War event could begin around the launch of Season 9.5 on August 21st.
October 2026 – Avengers: Endgame Inspired event

In October we’ll have Avengers: Endgame inspired content, the 2019 Film takes place 5 Years after Thanos’ victory in Avengers: Infinity War. The world is still trying to recover from what has been dubbed as “The Snap” but when a presumed dead Avenger, Scott Lang returns, the team finds hope in Time Travel and puts everything on the line to save Earth. Read the official synopsis below:
“The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, Avengers: Endgame“
It’s unclear what the Avengers: Endgame event will entail, it could be another PVE Mode set in the Avengers Compound where players will fight off waves of Chitauri to get to Thanos. Assuming Thanos is added to the game by then, the outfit will probably be inspired by his Battle Suit and become the third Avengers: Endgame inspired outfit following Iron Man’s and Spider-Man’s outfits.
The Avengers: Endgame event could begin around the launch of Season 10.5 on October 23rd.
December 18th 2026 – Avengers: Doomsday Inspired Event

In December we’ll finally arrive at Doomsday, the 2026 Film is the beginning of the end for the Multiverse Saga which started all the way in 2021 with WandaVision. The film will introduce the infamous Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Junior) who also happens to be the main villain of Marvel Rivals. The Avengers, New Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-Men and more will have to team up to face off against this new threat and save all of reality.
In Marvel Rivals, Doctor Doom is also an unplayable character, so December could be the month where a variant of Doom becomes playable as the path to doomsday ends as per the roadmap. If that’s the case, we’ll also have an outfit inspired by Avengers: Doomsday for Doctor Doom or a few of the many characters who will appear in the film, such as Thor, Magneto, Namor, and others. With no plot details for the film it’s hard to say whether a PVP or PVE mode will be better suited or what kind of map would fit the film.
This event seems to launch on December 18th, 2026, the same day that Avengers: Doomsday will hit theatres worldwide.
With each event happening every other month, it’s possible that they are season long events. Starting with The Avengers in Season 7/7.5 and ending with Avengers: Doomsday in Season 11.5/12.

roadmap.Marvel Rivals is developed by NetEase Games in collaboration with Marvel Games. The game is available for free on PC, PlayStation 4/5 and Xbox Series X|S.
