‘Lilo & Stitch’ Runtime Revealed (Exclusive)
Disney’s next live action remake, ‘Lilo & Stitch’, is coming to our world very soon, and we have the exclusive details on the film’s runtime.
The live-action Lilo & Stitch film was first reported by THR back in October of 2018, pre-production was a little bumpy, with Wicked director, John M. Chu, originally on board to helm the production – Chu later dropped out of the project and was replaced by Dean Fleischer Camp. That wasn’t the only hurdle for this film however, with both a fire on-set pushing back production back three weeks and the SAG-AFTRA strikes pausing filming halfway into the months-long shoot. Originally conceived to be a direct-to-streaming film, the top brass at Disney came to their senses and saw the box office potential of the highly marketable titular “dog” and bestowed upon it a full theatrical run. And now at long last we can reveal an approximate runtime for Lilo & Stitch.
Disney’s live-action Lilo & Stitch film will have an approximate runtime of 1 hour and 50 minutes.

This clocks in at approximately 25 minutes longer than the original 2002 animated picture of the same name. Lilo & Stitch follows a young Hawaiian girl named Lilo and her friend, an adorable extraterrestrial genetic experiment named Stitch, as they become a family and evade capture from members of the United Galactic Federation; all while trying not to raise any concerns of the social worker monitoring Lilo’s living situation with her older sister, Nani.
The original film earned $273M at the box office on an $80M budget back in 2002. The characters are ingrained deep into the public consciousness with Stitch plastered on every piece of merchandise you can imagine. The trailer for this latest iteration even became the biggest trailer post ever on the popular X/Twitter film news account, DiscussingFIlm. Proving theatrical was the right call on Disney’s end.

Lilo & Stitch is directed by Dean Fleischer Camp and stars Maia Kealoha, Sydney Agudong, Zach Galifianakis, Billy Magnussen, Hannah Waddingham, and Chris Sanders as Stitch. The film hits theaters on May 23rd.
