American rapper Lil Durk has been arrested for involvement in an alleged murder-for-hire plot in the attempted murder of Quando Rondo.
According to a new set of criminal charges, Durk Devontay Banks (known by his stage name Lil Durk) allegedly ordered his Only the Family associates to carry out a hit on fellow rapper Quando Rondo, who participated in an altercation that killed King Von back in 2020.
The alleged hit occurred back in 2022, which resulted in the death of Rondo’s cousin Lul Pab. The occurrence would be investigated and now, two years later several arrests have been made in relation to the incident. Kavon London Grant, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey and Asa Houston were all recently indicted on charges including committing murder-for-hire involving a death, conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire, and the use of a machine gun in a violent crime resulting in death concerning the 2022 murder.
A few days later Lil Durk was arrested in Florida before he had time to flee the country to Italy via private jet allegedly. Durk was arrested on a conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire charge and is currently being held in custody without bail. Records allege the artist set a hit against Rondo in retaliation for the murder of King Von at the hands of Rondo affiliate Timothy “Lul Tim” Leeks and offered money and “lucrative music opportunities” as a reward for committing the crime. He also allegedly paid for rental vehicles and hotel rooms via his Only The Family label. If convicted, Lil Durk will face the death penalty.
Durk as an artist first blew up in the early 2010s, when he founded Only the Family and joined Def Jam Recordings. He’s best known for his songs “Laugh Now Cry Later”, “All My Life”, “3 Headed Goat” and “Broadway Girls”. He’s represented by attorney Brian Bieber and is signed to Alamo Records.
