‘LEGO Fortnite Expeditions’ Available Now
The world of LEGO Fortnite expands with Expeditions, an RPG mode where players must stop Mask Maker Daigo.
The latest Fortnite update introduces LEGO Fortnite Expeditions, a new PvE mode for up to four players. The new mode can be accessed via the Battle Bus in LEGO Fortnite Odyssey and LEGO Fortnite Brick Life or the Discover tab on the main menu.
This mode ties in directly with the plot of Fortnite Chapter 6, Season 3: “Super” with players making Supernova Academy their base of operations. Players can also interact with Vengeance Jones and Hope.
Expedition Missions Explained
Missions can occur in locations such as Utopia City, The Spire Excavation Site, Busted Bridge as well as Demon’s Domain and The Supernova Academy in later updates. Missions can begin through the Mission Terminal at the academy where players can choose a specific mission or Quick Play to join any missions that require players.
Missions involve fighting against Spires and waves of enemies which include Light Demon Guards, Heavy Demon Guards, Titans and Kor, one of Diago’s Lieutenants. By exploring each location you can find NPCs to rescue as well as chests which contain resources, currency and gear.
Upon completing the missions you can earn Hero XP, used to level up the various classes.
Community Goals are currently active, upon completion every player will be able to earn even more Hero XP, have increased Hero Health and more Potions per mission.
Expedition Hero Classes Explained
LEGO Fortnite Expeditions features three Hero Classes to choose from which can be swapped at any time by using the Hero Class Terminal at the academy. See details on each of the three classes below.
Channel the power of chaotic energy by becoming a Shadow Caller! Fly to survey the battlefield from above and swoop in using Command Shadow, which summons a projectile capable of dealing explosive damage and healing allies. If you’re looking to escape the heat of battle, you can enter Shadow Form to transform into a flock of invulnerable ravens, the perfect getaway vehicle! Shadow Caller’s upgrade tree gives you the ability to morph this flexible Hero Class however you wish, whether that be a damage-per-second powerhouse or a critical support role.
The Hunter is the perfect choice for heroes looking to deal massive damage to a single target. Use The Hunter’s Grappler to close the gap to an unsuspecting enemy before unleashing the Bull’s-eye Blade. The Bull’s-eye’s Blade can mark enemies to multiply damage and make attacks more accurate for all players in the Mission. Of course, you can’t hunt without traps, and the Hunter’s Trap Dodge deals damage WHILE interrupting enemy attacks. (Multitasking: a great resume booster for after graduation!)
Rift Rippers use the power of rifts! Launch Rift Shards to deal with enemies individually, or summon Rift Crystals for wide-range damage. Being in the presence of Rift Crystals will further enhance this class’ abilities too, granting increased damage and armor augments to all Rift Rippers. It will also provide smaller buffs to other classes! Let ‘er rip. Rift Rippers can Rift Jump to reach high places, and Rift Dodge to open rifts and escape from danger. (Tired of reading the word “rift” yet?)
By levelling up each class, you can earn skill points to upgrade them even further.
Expedition Weapons Explained
There are also weapons available from Vendors at the academy, each with their own abilities, view details on each of the three weapons below.
Embrace your inner ninja with the Dual Daggers, a sharp pair of blades that’ll help you take down some of Daigo’s strongest warriors. Its Dashing Strike can be charged for up to 4 seconds to let loose a flurry of powerful hits, or you can go for Spiral Cuts to deal damage to multiple foes at once.
LEGO Fortnite’s first two-handed melee weapon is the go-to choice for any student looking to minor in the tank role. Capable of handling large groups of enemies with ease, the War Hammer packs a punch, albeit a slow one! The Ham-Stand + Ground Slam can be charged for up to 4 seconds to deliver a heavy-hitting blow to ten enemies, and can even be used to dodge enemy attacks.
For when melee weapons don’t quite pass the test, there are the Plasma Pistols! Fire from the hip or aim down sights, the choice is yours! Just make sure you don’t let your pistols overheat. The Sprint Spin attack lets you dash forward and perform a spinning motion while repeatedly firing plasma, a great option if you find yourself in a tight spot surrounded by enemies! If your situation’s too perilous, escape backwards out of danger while in the air.
There are also Gadgets, stat-boosters tools that can be found during Missions or purchased from Vendors. Players can equip up to three Gadgets at a time.
The Weapons featured above can also be crafted in LEGO Fortnite Odyssey with the Hero Classes joining at a later date.
