KSI’s latest song, “Thick Of It” ft. Trippie Redd has become the poster child for bad music in a new wave of memes.
YouTube sensation and Sidemen entrepreneur JJ Olatunji, known professionally as KSI, recently released a song collaborating with established rapper Trippie Redd (“The Grinch”, “Tell Me U Luv Me”). While the song has already been out for nine days, only recently has the song blown up reaching the masses.
Listeners around the world have seemingly united, all expressing strong dislike over the new track. From YouTubers like Boy Boy, TommyInnit, IShowSpeed, and more, to everyday music enjoyers, the consensus seems to surround poor lyricism, bland production and allegations over manufactured discourse.
In several response Tweets and YouTube videos, KSI has responded calling out the overwhelming majority of haters, insisting on a high-quality level presented in both the song and accompanying music video.
KSI Lunchly Controversy
The song adds fuel to the fire, pairing together with KSI’s recent collaborations with Jimmy “Mr Beast” Donaldson (who faces his own set of controversies in the wake of the Kris Tyson allegations) and Logan Paul (infamous for filming a dead body in Japan in 2017) for the Lunchly meal package brand. That collaboration set him against beloved Minecraft YouTuber DanTDM, who criticised the Lunchables-inspired food box as a money grab and unhealthy.
These recent strings of controversies have led many fans to allege that Olatunji is employing outrageous marketing strategies to push his content to the masses. If so, it’s certainly working with “Thick Of It” almost reaching 20M views on YouTube alone (at the time of publication).
“Thick Of It” is performed by KSI and Trippie Redd, and is now streaming on all major music streaming services. You can listen to the song via Spotify below:
