Having made a reputation for itself through casting A-list ensembles with its first and second films, Knives Out and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery respectively, the franchise is back for round three

Following a title announcement on May 24th, the casting of Cailee Spaeny (Civil War) and Josh O’Connor (Challengers) on May 27th and the casting of Andrew Scott (1917) on the 28th, we have some new cast members, doubling the known amount.

Actresses Kerry Washington and Glenn Close have been cast in the film in undisclosed roles. Washington is best known for her role in Django Unchained as well as the tumultuous Fantastic Four films from the 2000s. In a stark contrast to Washington, Close is recognized by her roles in Tarzan, Guardians of the Galaxy and The Stepford Wives

Two more recognizable names have also been cast in Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery. First up is Jeremy Renner, an actor who has appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Mission: Impossible franchise, as well as many awards contenders ranging from The Hurt Locker to Denis Villeneuve’s Arrival

The move comes after the actor made his recovery following a near-fatal snowplough accident in the first quarter of 2023. Renner actually appeared in Glass Onion on a bottle of hot sauce as a joke, it is unsure if he will be playing himself or a different character.

Last but not least is Black Swan alum Mila Kunis. She made her breakout in That ’70s Show, one of the most popular sitcoms of the 90s and early 2000s and has since gone on to play the iconic Meg Griffin in Family Guy

The casting comes as a surprise to many, considering the actress made headlines in 2023 for supporting That ’70s Show co-star Danny Masterson in a letter while he was on trial over a rape conviction, which eventually lead to his conviction. The actress later apologised alongside her spouse Ashton Kutcher, but the event led to many thinking she wouldn’t get roles for a fair bit.
