Following a monumental Summer, Kendrick Lamar has lined up his next performance, this time on the biggest stage in sports, Apple Music’s Half Time Show. The announcement was delivered by Jay-Z’s Roc-Nation, the NFL, and Lamar’s pgLang. In a statement, Jay-Z said:

“Kendrick Lamar is truly a once-in-a-generation artist and performer. His deep love for hip-hop and culture informs his artistic vision. He has an unparalleled ability to define and influence culture globally. Kendrick’s work transcends music, and his impact will be felt for years to come.”

While Kendrick aptly said:

“Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one.”

The news comes after the rapper dropped five diss tracks in a battle against Canadian artist Drake, with many of the songs becoming huge hits on the charts, including Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That”, “euphoria” and “Not Like Us”, with the latter widely being considered a Song Of The Summer contender.

His last live performance was at The Pop Up: Ken & Friends event in LA earlier this year in which he performed his diss tracks for the first time, with many guests including Dr. Dre, Steve Lacy, Tyler, the Creator, and more. Up next for Lamar is the animated documentary Piece by Piece, which serves as a biopic for Pharrell Williams. The artist is also rumoured to be working on a new album, his first since 2022’s Mr Morale and the Big Steppers
