Jimmy Olsen Show ‘DC Crime’ In Development At DC Studios
Skyler Gisondo is set to headline the first Superman spin-off series alongside other returning members of the Daily Planet.
It’s been almost three months since DC came back in full force with the premiere of Superman, the theatrical debut of the all-new DC Universe (DCU) on July 11th. Mere hours after the film hit the big screen, reports of a spin-off show focused on Daily Planet Reporter, Jimmy Olsen (Skyler Gisondo) and another about Justice Gang Member Mister Terrific (Edi Gathegi) started popping up with DC Studios Co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran both interested in seeing these projects come to light.
Today, through an article posted by The Hollywood Reporter, we have confirmation that the Jimmy Olsen series has been greenlit (no updates about the Mister Terrific series has been mentioned at the time of writing though the character is expected to return in Superman pseudo-sequel Man Of Tomorrow).
Dan Perrault and Tony Yacenda, known for their work on mockumentaries American Vandal and Players, will not only write but also executive produce and showrun the upcoming DC series. James Gunn and Peter Safran will also executive produce with Galen Vaisman overseeing the series for DC.

The series follows Jimmy Olsen and other Daily Planet members (with the exception of Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane and David Corenswet’s Clark Kent, both who we expect to return in Man Of Tomorrow) as they tackle involving various super-powered villains, Gorilla Grodd is expected to be one of the main focuses of the season.
Gorilla Grodd is created by John Broome and Carmine Infantino and first appears in The Flash #106 (May 1959). He’s described as a hyper-intelligent telepathic ape who’s powers derived from the radiation given off by a strange meteorite, Grodd is primarily a Flash villain.
This series won’t be the first appearance of the villain, Gorilla Grodd actually made his debut in Creature Commandos episode 4, “Chasing Squirrels” where he’s seen alongside Princess Ilana in the dark future.
Further information from Variety has indicated that the series will be called DC Crime.

DC Crime is developed by Dan Perrault and Tony Yacenda and stars Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen. The series is coming soon to HBO Max.
