Following the success of the The Super Mario Bros movie all eyes are on Nintendo’s next ip film the upcoming The Legend of Zelda live-action. According to a new report by insider DanielRPK we may have found our Princess Zelda in Euphoria actress Hunter Schafer.

The live-action film developed by Nintendo in collaboration with Sony Pictures was first announced on November 7th, 2023 with Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes director Wes Ball set to helm the picture. Almost two years later with the launch of the Nintendo Today app, it was revealed that the film would hit theaters on March 26th, 2027. This means that the film will share the same release month as Sonic The Hedgehog 4 (March 19th, 2027) and Godzilla x Kong: Supernova (March 26th, 2027).

Per the report by DanielRPK, Hunter Schafer is being eyed for the role of Princess Zelda. Schafer previously expressed interest in the role when the popular fan cast was brought up during an interview with Entertainment Tonight. 

Princess Zelda first appeared in the original The Legend of Zelda released in 1986 on the Nintendo Entertainment System. She’s one of three main characters in the franchise alongside series protagonist, Link and series antagonist Ganondorf.

Hunter Schafer is best known for her breakout role as Jules Vaughn on HBO’s Euphoria. Since then she’s starred in films such as The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbird’s & Snakes and Tillman Singer’s Cuckoo.

The Legend of Zelda will be directed by Wes Ball. The film hits theatres on March 26th, 2027.
