His & Hers has a lot of twists and turns, so it might be a little confusing to follow all the way through so here is the ending explained.
Spoilers for His & Hers Episodes 5 and 6
First Twist Ending in ‘His & Hers’
His & Hers might have two major twists in the final two episodes. The first is first revealed in the final moment of episode 5. To explain that, we need some backstory.
Years ago, when Tessa Thompson’s Anna was a student at St. Hilary’s Girls School, she had a group of friends that consisted of Zoe, Rachel Hopkins, Helen Wang, and Catherine Kelly. Zoe is Jack Harper’s (Jon Bernthal) sister. Rachel Hopkins is the woman who dies at the start, and Helen Wang is the headmistress who dies second. We don’t really know much about Catherine Kelly at this stage, other than her alleged death.
The twist in episode 5 is that Catherine Kelly isn’t actually dead but has lost a lot of weight and is living her life as Lexi (Rebecca Rittenhouse), the news anchor we meet, who is out for Anna’s job.

Anna figures this out as she is in Lexi’s house. In episode 6, we learn that Lexi killed her parents and sister during a boating accident, which everyone also thinks she also died in.
On the other end, after Zoe has been killed, Jack quickly learns that Lexi is the killer while on the phone with Anna. He punches Priya (Sunita Mani), who was suspecting him for the crime, and gets in his car to get to Lexi’s house. Meanwhile, Anna gets into it with Richard (Pablo Schreiber) as Anna starts shooting at him. She uses up all the bullets as Lexi attacks her. They brawl out. Lexi gets a hold of the gun and she points it at Anna, ready to shoot.
Meanwhile, now both Jack and Priya are separately at the scene. Priya sees that Lexi is about to shoot, so she fires at her and hits her straight in the head, killing Lexi.
Everyone is led to believe the murder is solved. Lexi’s motive was that she was bullied by her friend group, and she was out for revenge.
Second Twist Ending In ‘His & Hers’

This is the real major twist of the series. The show is looking like it’s winding down. We get a monologue from Anna, who has now reunited with Jack and is pregnant with their kid, and they’ve also taken in Zoe’s daughter.
We quickly realise that these are not Anna’s words. Instead, she is reading from Alice’s (Crystal Fox) note to her. We quickly transition to Alice’s voiceover, which is much more sinister than Anna’s as she reveals the real murderer—herself.
Alice, during Anna’s disappearance, misses her deeply. She goes through Anna’s things and doing so she finds a tape. On Alice’s 16th birthday, Zoe, Rachel Hopkins, and Helen Wang took Anna and Catherine Kelly to the woods, where they invited boys to sexually assault Catherine as they watch. Anna helps Catherine, who then runs away, but Anna sadly isn’t able to. Alice watches Anna’s tape of her getting sexually assaulted while the three women watch on.
This leads to Alice’s murder spree that we watch through the series. We watch as she brutally murders the three women. Alice, in the meantime, uses her elderliness to her advantage to play the role of a dementia-ridden woman to seem innocent. She’s also responsible for setting up Catherine to be killed as she frames her for the murders.

In her note, Alice claims all of these murders were done not just to avenge Anna but to also bring her and Jack back. She feels responsible for Anna’s departure, as she was taking care of Anna and Jack’s daughter when she died. So she claims to have murdered these girls to bring back Anna and reunite her with Jack.
The brutal murders we see are juxtaposed by Alice’s claim of doing this for motherhood, and she explains, using Anna’s own present and upcoming motherhood, that a mother’s love “never dims” and is always “relentless.” We end with Tessa Thompson’s Anna looking at her mother with a somewhat of a smile on her face.
