This weekend, two Warner Bros. films were test-screened to audiences ahead of planned theatrical releases. One of these was Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, the latest film in Legendary’s Monsterverse and the film has test-screened extremely early, ahead of its March 26, 2027, release date. The test screening was held in Burbank, California, and gave audiences a first, albeit unfinished, look at the film. Several reports from the screening implicate the involvement of Space Godzilla, a Toho character that is basically just Godzilla from space. What makes this more interesting is another report from insider Cryptic4KQual, who insinuates that the film will involve a heralding plot akin to Silver Surfer and Galactus in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, with Space Godzilla in the heralding position.

The insider made sure to clarify that Space Godzilla is not a lackey or minion, though, still serving as the villain of the film.
Godzilla x Kong: Supernova was shot last year in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Utah, Mexico, and Nevada. The film is now deep in the post production process, with the film being CGI-heavy in nature, featuring few “real” elements.
The film is the latest film in a long line of Monsterverse films, a series which began with the Godzilla reboot of 2014, spawning a long line of films, crossovers, comics, series, and more. In fact, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2 is set to grace the screens of Apple TV viewers later this month. Following that, a Cold War series is in development as well as potential crossovers with franchises such as Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim.
Elsewhere for the Godzilla franchise, Toho continues to develop stories in Japan, including the upcoming 2026 film Godzilla Minus Zero, the sequel to 2023’s hit film Godzilla Minus One, which was nominated for an Academy Award.

Godzilla x Kong: Supernova is directed by Grant Sputore and stars Kaitlyn Dever, Dan Stevens, Jack O’Connell, Delroy Lindo, Matthew Modine, and Sam Neill. The film hits theatres in March 2027.
