First ‘Wonder Man’ Trailer Revealed At NYCC
The era of Simon Williams has begun with the first official trailer for the upcoming Marvel Spotlight series.
Wonder Man is the second series to fall under the Marvel Spotlight banner (following 2024’s Echo), a category of Marvel Projects dedicated to being easily accessible to both longtime fans and newcomers. The project got its start in December 2021 when Destin Daniel Cretton signed a contract with Marvel for a Disney+ series, a few months later it was revealed as Wonder Man, Cretton would direct some episodes and Andrew Guest signed on as a co-creator. Now we have our first trailer for Wonder Man.
Marvel kept quiet about the series starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as the titular Simon Williams up until last year when the series would be namedropped during an episode of The Official Marvel Podcast. Following that, the series would receive its first footage in the “Marvel Studios | Look Ahead | Disney+” video on October 30th followed by Yahya appearing in character at the red carpet premiere of The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The most recent promo would involve Zlatko Burić appearing in character as Wonder Man remake director, Von Kovak who talked about his inspiration behind making the film.
Today, during the Marvel Television and Animation panel at the New York Comic Con, we received our first official trailer for the series, the release date was also changed to January 27th, 2026. You can view the trailer below:
We also got a new poster for the series which shows a magazine for The Hollywood Reporter, the headline reads “Hollywood Experiencing Super Hero Fatigue”. You can view the poster below:
What Happens In The Wonder Man Trailer?

The trailer opens with a shot of the Hollywood sign, we zoom out to a movie set where props are currently being put in place. The narrator once again talks about Von Kovak coming out of retirement to direct the Wonder Man remake film. We see the shot of the person dressed as a cowboy being filmed followed by a close up of the poster for the original Wonder Man film. We see moments from Kovak’s interview, in between we see a shot of some Wonder Man merch followed by a clip from the film.
After Kovak is asked about casting we cut to Simon Williams (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) and Trevor Slattery (Ben Kingsley) walking out of a building, Simon asks Trevor about this “big audition”, Trevor describes it as a huge opportunity and reveals that he’s auditioning for the Wonder Man remake. We cut to a tall building, Simon walks to reception and talks to his manager asking to be in the film. She laughs at him, calling him crazy and he responds “I was born to play this character”. She calls him crazy and says they’re already talking to someone named Leo.
We see a shot outside of some trailers, we then cut to Simon doing vocal exercises in preparation, he looks at himself in the power and motivates himself. Simon arrives at the audition, a large crowd is seen all practicing their lines. Trevor asks Simon what’s wrong, he says he’s trying to figure out his character’s backstory, Trevor tells him he doesn’t need one but Simon says it’s his “process”. In the hallway, Simon hears loud laughter, the guy next to him says that the guy inside is killing it. We learn that Trevor is currently auditioning, one of the crew members says she’s seen this guy before, her coworker responds “Pretty sure he used to be a terrorist” and we cut to Trevor dressed up as the Mandarin from Iron Man 3.
Simon is the next person to audition, he introduces himself and we cut to Simon getting a call from his manager, he appears to be selected and she asks Simon to act normal. Simon and Trevor arrive at Von Kovak’s mansion, his assistant welcomes them in. When the two arrive at the living room they meet the rest of the people who were chosen. Kovak introduces himself and says he wants to “explore the place between fiction and nonfiction, his assistant is recording possibly for a behind the scenes.
We see everyone following Kovak, he tells Simon and Trevor “we are going to make the last movie on Earth. No one will have the balls to make another.” We cut to what appears to be a classroom set followed by a shot away from the Hollywood sign. Kovak says “and… action!” A cameraman is ready to record and Simon walks exits the set as the Wonder Man logo appears on screen. Simon asks his manager if she’s heard anything from Kovak, she says she’ll let him know but if he calls again she won’t tell him. Finally the trailer confirms that the series will consist of eight episodes.
