Exclusive ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 Theatrical Trailer Footage Description

Following the release of Superman earlier this week, we broke news that a new theatrical trailer for Peacemaker Season 2 is playing in select theatres. From what we can ascertain, it seems that it is only playing in select Australian theatres and in specific formats. Read on to find out what happens in the Peacemaker Season 2 trailer footage.

Peacemaker follows Christopher Smith following the events of The Suicide Squad as he works for a new black ops team under the in-universe organisation ARGUS. His team, consisting of Harcourt (Jennifer Holland), John Economos (Steve Agee), Murn (Chukwudi Iwuji), Adebayo (Danielle Brooks), and Vigilante (Freddie Stroma), work together to face an alien invasion.

The second season of the show is set to have most of these characters return, with John Cena’s Smith now set to face off against the father of the slain Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman), Rick Flag Sr (Frank Grillo), who actually reprises his role from Creature Commandos and Superman.

Now, we at Feature First have obtained footage of this trailer, which is similar in length to a TV spot, coming in at exactly 30 seconds long.

What Happens In The ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 Theatrical Trailer?

The teaser opens with Christopher Smith / Peacemaker (John Cena) in his dad’s house, standing right outside of the Pocket Dimension, which houses his gear. We cut to the inside of the Pocket Dimension with numerous open doors and the DC Studios logo on screen. Christopher asks Eagly “Up for an adventure pal?” and we cut to the tagline, “From the director of Superman and Guardians of the Galaxy“. We see Langston Fleury (Tim Meadows) exit a truck with his special ops crew, followed by Christoper in the car with Leota Adebayo (Danielle Brooks). He says, “This is all I ever wanted”.

We see a truck explode, followed by Christopher (wearing his new suit) and Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland) looking up at the Sky. Jennifer watches Christopher (in civilian attire) leap over a rooftop and smash into a window. Eagly swoops in before announcing the August 22nd release date, due to the AEST timezone the trailer was viewed in. We see Christopher open what looks like a bear trap and we see a door with yellow electricy. Adrian Chase / Vigilante (Eddie Stroma) asks Christopher “There’s another dimension?” and we cut to Emilia petting a dog. Adrian continues, “That’s exactly the same as ours” as we see Christopher donning a new helmet, riding his motorcycle down the street, and Vigilante emerges from some bushes.

Christopher, who’s in a car, responds, “but it’s better”, we cut to him pointing a gun to someone off-screen. A helicopter explodes, the tagline “The hit series returns”, Emilia says to Chris “This is your perfect world huh?” and Rick Flag Sr (Frank Grillo) punches someone. Two people burst out of a window, Vigilante points a gun at someone and Emilia is seen fighting someone in a bar. Chris (unclear if it’s his “variant”) threatens an off screen character with a knife that pops out of his glove. Emilia hugs Chris, he says “Best dimension ever,” and the two appear to lean in for a kiss at an office building. The Peacemaker logo appears followed by “only on HBO Max”.

Peacemaker is written by James Gunn and stars John Cena, Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, Frank Grillo, Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Robert Patrick, and Tim Meadows. Superman is written and directed by James Gunn, and stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.

Superman is now playing in theatres worldwide. Peacemaker Season 2 hits HBO Max on August 21, 2025. Watch the first season below:
