Every Targaryen In ‘A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms’ Season 1 Explained
There are many Targaryens in HBO’s A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Here are all of them.
By now its clear that House Targaryen is one of the most iconic on-screen families since perhaps The Simpsons, distinctly known for their white hair, their ferocity, and their incestuous activities. They rose from the ashes in Game of Thrones, with Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) leading them to glory, and their activities as the titular House of the Dragon in their own series makes waves upon release, they now have a big presence in the third Game of Thrones spin-off, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 1.
Set 72 years after the events of House of the Dragon and roughly 90 years before Game of Thrones, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms sees a lowly hedge knight named Ser Duncan the Tall (Peter Claffey) and his newfound squire Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell) attend a jousting tournament, and when he sees an innocent puppeteer being assaulted by Prince Aerion “Brightflame” Targaryen (Finn Bennett), Dunk does the only thing he deems right.

Aerion Targaryen In ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’

Played by True Detective: Night Country‘s Finn Bennett, Aerion Targaryen is the son of Prince Maekar Targaryen, and the brother of Princes Daeron “The Drunken”, Aegon V “Egg”, and Aemon. He has the nickname Brightflame, and is a knight that plans to participate in the tournament at Ashford Meadow. He first meet’s Ser Duncan when he arrives to Ashford Meadow, mistaking him for a stable boy. He attacks and assaults the puppeteer Tanselle (Tanzyn Crawford) when she slays a puppet dragon, which Aerion takes as blasphemy against House Targaryen, the House of the Dragon.
Aegon Targaryen In ‘A Knight of Seven Kingdoms’

Played by The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes star Dexter Ann Soll, Aegon Targaryen V, aka Egg, is one of the main characters of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. He is the son of Prince Maekar Targaryen, and the youngest brother of Princes Daeron “The Drunken”, Aerion “Brightflame”, and Aemon. He is the squire of Ser Duncan the Tall. He starts the series having run away from his family, having described them as cruel. He hides his true heritage by shaving his head, thus hiding his naturally white hair.
At the end of the third episode, he witnesses Prince Aerion assaulting Tanselle, and he runs to get Ser Duncan to help her. When Duncan is ultimately about to be tortured and killed by Aerion and his guards, Aegon makes himself known and reveals himself to be a Targaryen prince and not just a lowly squire.
Baelor Targaryen In ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’

Played by Bertie Carvel, Prince Baelor Targaryen is the heir to the Iron Throne, Hand of the King to Daeron II, who is also his father, older brother of Prince Maekar Targaryen, and uncle to Princes Daeron “The Drunk”, Aerion “Brightflame”, Aegon “Egg”, and Aemon. He has the nickname Breakspear. He arrives to Ashford Meadow with Maekar and Aerion. Upon his arrival, Ser Duncan the Tall seeks an audience with him, attempting to appeal to him in order to enter the jousting tournament, after the steward of Ashford declines him for not having proof of his knighthood. Baelor, remembering Ser Arlan of Pennytree, vouches for Ser Duncan.
Maekar Targaryen In ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’

Played by Sam Spruell, Prince Maekar Targaryen is the brother of Prince Baelor “Breakspear” Targaryen and father of Princes Daeron “The Drunken”, Aerion “Brightflame”, Aegon “Egg”, and Aemon. He is second-in-line for the Iron Throne, following his brother Baelor. He arrives to Ashford Meadow with his son Aerion and brother Baelor, but is also on the lookout for his sons Daeron, a drunk, and Aegon, a small boy. When Ser Duncan seeks an audience with Baelor, he heckles the knight, which Baelor brushes off as him being worried for Aegon.
Daeron & Aemon Targaryen In ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’

Played by Henry Ashton, Prince Daeron Targaryen is the son of Prince Maekar Targaryen and the eldest brother of Princes Aerion “Brightflame”, Aegon “Egg”, and Aemon. He has the nickname The Drunken, due to his alcohol tendencies. In the books, this character is a dragon dreamer, meaning he has prophetic dreams. He appears in the season but not in the first three episodes.
Prince Aemon Targaryen does not appear in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms but is mentioned. Although he does appear in Game of Thrones as a Maester of Castle Black, following the inevitable fall of House Targaryen. He is played by Peter Vaughan in Game of Thrones as an elderly man.
