New Details About ‘Creature Commandos’ At The Belle Reve Experience
At the 0:09 timestamp, eagle-eyed viewers can spot John Economos (Steve Agee) in the top left monitor using a forearm crutch, which he’s forced to use after sustaining an injury in the finale of Peacemaker. This indicates that the series is set after the events of Peacemaker Season 1 as previously hinted at by James Gunn.
At that same timestamp, the bottom middle monitor also shows Doctor Phosphorus (Alan Tudyk) and The Bride (Indira Varma) with three other new characters. Diving into DC Comics, we can deduce that they are (from left to right) Rubberduck, Congorilla, and Nosferata.
Rubberduck / Byrd Rentals is a DC character created by Roy Thomas and Scott Shaw, first appearing in New Teen Titans #16 (1982). After being struck by a piece of a meteor sent by Starro The Conqueror, he gained the ability to control every molecule in his body allowing him to stretch to great distances and squeeze into any space. He’s also part of a team known as the Zoo Crew.
Congorilla is a DC character created by Robert Bernstein and Howard Sherman, first appearing in Action Comics #248 (1959). Congorilla is an enchanted gorilla displaying a variety of abilities, when adventurer William Glenmorgan is given a magic ring by his friend Kawolo, William is able to transfer his consciousness to Congorilla and control him as his own.
Nosferata is a DC character created by Karl Kesel and Tom Grummett, first appearing in Superboy Vol 4 #50 (1998). She is a product of experimentation under the Moreau Project in 1940, she displays the same abilities as expected with Vampires including enhanced senses, immortality, superhuman strength, superhuman speed and more.
At the 0:12 timestamp we get a new look at Circe (Anya Chalotra) in what is seemingly an interrogation room, and later confronting a frightened Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) in another scene. Circe was briefly seen in the teaser trailer for Creature Commandos where she’s being shot at and turns the bullets into butterflies.
What Is ‘Creature Commandos’ About
The plot has been kept mostly under wraps except for merch available at SDCC which teased that Task Force M will have to kill a Princess. James Gunn has also confirmed that the series will lead into Peacemaker Season 2 where Rick Flag Sr. (Frank Grillo) is set to confront Christopher Smith (John Cena) for the murder of his son Rick Flag Jr. (Joel Kinnaman) during the events of The Suicide Squad.
The teaser trailer for Creature Commandos did not give away many plot details, only serving to introduce the team. The next trailer, which is expected to premiere at NYCC should give more details regarding the team’s mission.
Creature Commandos is written by James Gunn and stars Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Frank Grillo as General Rick Flag Sr, Steve Agee as John Economos, and more. The series premieres on Max on December 5th, 2024 and is produced by DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation.
