Chillinit ‘All Aussie Adventures Tour’ Review: Intense Performance On A Small Scale
Chillinit is back for his fifth tour, titled All Aussie Adventures Tour. Read our Chillinit All Aussie Adventures Tour review.
One of Australia’s most popular rappers, Chillinit has blown up in the past few years, alongside the Australian drill rap wave as the man on the forefront. Despite this, I haven’t had the most experience in regards to genre exposure, but I know many people who are a fan of this particularly artist and I decided to give him a chance. Suffice to say, I was not disappointed. Read our Chillinit All Aussie Adventures Tour review.
The All Aussie Adventures Tour is the fifth tour for Australian rapper Chillinit. The ticketing page for the tour describes it as follows:
Australian rap icon Chillinit is hitting the red dirt this Summer, taking his boundless energy and smoked-out catalogue on the All Aussie Adventures Tour – a 25-date run spanning coastlines, country towns and everywhere in between. From underground prodigy to chart-dominating force, Chillinit has redefined Australian rap with raw authenticity, unfiltered lyricism and an untouchable independent spirit. Now, he’s bringing that same fire to regional Australia. So pack your swag, lace up your boots and get ready to ride shotgun – this isn’t just a tour, it’s a convoy. It’s chaos, it’s community, it’s an All Aussie Adventure – and you don’t want to miss it.

I attended the third date of this 25-date tour at The Station, Sunshine Coast, which was the smallest venue I’ve attended for a concert, usually used to stadiums, arenas and entertainment centres. Make no mistake though as this small venue was packed to the brim with a lively crowd of approximately 1500 people. And lively they were as the crowd was probably the most insane one I’ve been a part of.
The show was opened by Jerry Grimefeld, an upcoming Australian rapper who won the Take Flight Sky Session competition and then delivered the longest freestyle in Take Flight history making him one of the most exciting voices in the genre. Jerry excited the crowd with a pretty amazing opening act, with the song “Fortunate Son” by Creedence Clearwater Revival serving as a prelude to his introduction. An excellent choice that invigorated the audience before any of the performances actually began. Jerry Grimefeld had the smallest catalogue of any artist I’ve seen live, but in the 6 months his career has been going, he has much to brag about in terms of his craft.

The main act was a crazy one. Before even the pre-show, Chillinit showed up, walked on stage and threw some of his chips out into the crowd. Later he would walk on stage, still before the preshow, and skull a beer, taking off his shirt and throwing it out into the crowd. He would again do this with another shirt, a cap, water bottles, and merch. The man is clearly a performer at heart and he is bloody good at it.
The crowd reeked of vapes, weed, and body odor; giving it a real club on steroids vibe. Despite only consisting of 1500 people, moshpits were opened, fights broken out, shoes thrown, people brought on stage, it was a real experience. The production design for the concert was minimal, limited to only lights, a back screen, and fog machines, but it was enough.

Chillinit’s performance itself was energetic, heavily interactive, and was filled with charm. He was definitely the highlight of the night and his great catalogue of music. I particularly liked his performances of “Boys Light Up” and “Freedom”, as well as “Overkill”. It was especially cool to see Jet Walker, an artist from Gympie, Queensland (the same country town I went to high school in), come on stage to perform a song with Chillinit. I think what made the night truly special though, from a performance perspective, was the interspersion of talking with the audience, where he provides good messaging to his audience, as well as revealing he will stop touring after his next album to focus on family life.
In all, it was one of the best concerts I’ve attended and certainly the best small scale concert I’ve been to. With amazing performances from the two main acts, a pretty good verse from Jet Walker, and an immensely active crowd, this was a must see.

I should also note that I did meet both Jerry Grimefeld and Chillinit following the show and got a photo with the latter, congratulating him on the performance (So if you’re reading this Chillinit, I was the one in the Silverchair Frogstomp shirt!). Ironically enough, both chill dudes and I am more than interested in seeing where both artists go next.
