Carla Gugino Joins David Fincher’s Cliff Booth Movie
A Netflix regular, Carla Gugino, is set to return to the platform to play a role in David Fincher’s upcoming Cliff Booth solo film.
Casting is continuing on David Fincher’s The Continuing Adventures of Cliff Booth at Netflix. Led by Brad Pitt, who reprises his role as stuntman Cliff Booth and returns for his fourth collaboration with Fincher, the cast also consists of Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Elizabeth Debicki, and Scott Caan. Now, Deadline Hollywood reports that Carla Gugino, famed for her collaborations with Mike Flanagan and Zack Snyder, as well as her performances in the Spy Kids franchise, is set to join the cast of the film. Like Abdul-Mateen, Debicki and Caan, she is yet to work with the Fight Club director.
The Continuing Adventures of Cliff Booth serves as a sequel and follow-up to Quentin Tarantino’s hit 2019 period piece, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, that chronicled an altered timeline of failed movie star Rick Dalton (portrayed by Leonardo DiCaprio) and the Manson Family murders of Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie). The film was originally in the works as Tarantino’s tenth and final film, but when that plan fell through, Brad Pitt convinced QT to give Fincher a chance. Rumours have previously circulated about DiCaprio making a cameo, but it is currently unknown whether Robbie will return as Tate.
Appearing in the Cliff Booth move would be Carla Gugino’s biggest role yet. She is fresh off Mike Flanagan’s TIFF People’s Choice Award winning The Life of Chuck, which recently premiered in theatres across the US as part of a wide release campaign by Neon.
Brad Pitt is currently finishing up his marketing campaign for Joseph Kosinski’s F1 The Movie at Apple TV+, showing now more than ever that A-listers are starting to move into the streaming space. As for David Fincher, he just directed an episode of Love, Death & Robots Volume 4, as well as his last feature The Killer, starring Michael Fassbender. Both projects are now streaming at Netflix.
