It’s time folks, final box office projects are in and its looking like the film will do monstrous numbers again. Read the Avatar: Fire and Ash worldwide opening weekend projections.
James Cameron’s iconic sci-fi epic Avatar debuted back in 2009 with a $232M worldwide opening weekend and slowly but surely went on to become the biggest movie of all time, grossing $2.9B at the worldwide box office. 13 years later, a sequel would be released, titled Avatar: The Way of Water, and would open with $445M and earn an equally impressive $2.3B at the worldwide box office.
Now, Avatar: Fire and Ash is already playing previews for audiences, and come Monday we will know official opening weekend numbers. Deadline is projecting that Avatar: Fire and Ash will open to a smaller but still impressive $380M against its $400M budget.

Whilst it may pale in comparison to The Way of Water‘s opening, it will still be the second biggest opening of 2025, behind Disney’s Zootopia 2, and will possibly leg out to similar numbers to The Way of Water.
James Cameron, director of the Avatar franchise, holds a record having directed three of the four top highest grossing films of all time, having directed Avatar, Avatar: The Way of Water, and Titanic, and time will only tell if Avatar: Fire and Ash will join these films.

Avatar: Fire and Ash features an ensemble cast consisting of Sam Worthington, Zoe SaldaƱa, Stephen Lang, Oona Chaplin, Britain Dalton, Jack Champion, Sigourney Weaver, Bailey Bass, Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Trinity Bliss, Edie Falco, Brendan Cowell, Jemaine Clement, Giovanni Ribisi, Jamie Flatters, and David Thewlis.
