‘A Complete Unknown’ Digital Release Date Revealed

After its grand success with Academy Award nominations and racking up a number of other nominations at other award shows including in top acting categories at the Golden Globes and even getting an unexpected Best Director nomination at this year’s Oscars, Searchlight Pictures has finally released a digital date for the movie.

The confirmed digital release date for A Complete Unknown is February 25th. It will be available to buy/rent on PVOD platforms including Apple, Amazon Prime and more.

A Complete Unknown is a biopic about the early career of legendary musician Bob Dylan, focusing on his rise to fame in the 1960s and his controversial transition from acoustic folk to electric rock at the Newport Folk Festival. Directed by James Mangold, the film explores Dylan’s struggle with fame and the impact of his music on American culture. Timothée Chalamet stars as Dylan, bringing his signature intensity to the role, while Elle Fanning plays Sylvie Russo, a fictional character based on one of Bob’s most impactful relationships, whom he asked to be renamed for the movie. The cast also includes Edward Norton as folk icon Pete Seeger, Monica Barbaro as Joan Baez, and Boyd Holbrook as Johnny Cash.

By the time A Complete Unknown arrives on digital, it will have spent a full two months in theaters, with Searchlight Pictures giving it ample time to thrive on the big screen. This strategy has paid off, allowing the film to become a box office hit and solidifying Timothée Chalamet’s star power as a leading man. His performance as Bob Dylan has captivated audiences, not just for his acting but for his dedication to performing Dylan’s music himself.
