‘V/H/S Mixtape’ Segment Details Revealed Ahead Of Beyond Fest Debut

One of the longest-running horror franchises currently, V/H/S is back for a ninth film, this one themed around mixtapes.

Now, Shudder, which produces films in the series, has released details for the upcoming film, V/H/S Mixtape, complete with directors and synopses for the movie. Find all the details below:

“Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance”, dir. Renee Zhan

Directed by Renee Zhan, who is best known for her short films, “Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance” follows a studio that “attempts to reboot a long-cancelled puppet show with a mysterious past.” The segment features designs from Jim Henson’s Creature Shop.

“Heartbeat”, dir. David Moreau

MadS‘s David Moreau joins the V/H/S franchise with “Heartbeat”, which is described as “a pair of YouTube urbex influencers find themselves trapped in a decommissioned military facility used for sonic experimentations.”

“The Music Of Mr. Sze”, dir. Ernest Dickerson

Ernest Dickerson, best known as the director of Juice, starring Tupac Shakur, and as the cinematographer of Spike Lee’s Malcolm X and Do The Right Thing, is set to direct a segment in V/H/S Mixtape, titled “The Music of Mr. Sze”. It will follow “a college film student’s documentary project uncovers the reclusive life of a tormented musician.”

“Death Tone”, dir. RZA

RZA, the acclaimed Wu-Tang Clan member directs a segment in V/H/S Mixtape titled “Death Tone”. It follows “a young sound engineer follows her late Dad’s instructions to create the ultimate track.”

Framing Segment, dir. Tobias Forge and Flying Lotus

As with every V/H/S film, Mixtape features a wraparound segment that is used as the framing device for the found footage seen within. Tobias Forge of Ghost directs a music video whilst Flying Lotus directs another. GWAR hosts the segment, which is framed as a MTV spoof featuring skits and music videos that are disturbing.

V/H/S Mixtape is directed by Renee Zhan, David Moreau, Ernest Dickerson, RZA, Tobias Forge, and Flying Lotus. The film debuts at BeyondFest on September 30th, and arrives a week later on Shudder on October 9, 2026.
