‘The Kane Chronicles’ Show In The Works At Disney+

A new report suggests that book author Rick Riordan and Angela Robinson are developing The Kane Chronicles as a Disney+ series.

Nexus Point News, who originally revealed that 20th Century Television had acquired the rights for Riordan’s The Kane Chronicles, reports that 20th Century Television has hired author Rick Riordan and show writer Angela Robinson to create an adaptation for the Disney+ streaming service.

Riordan’s three books — The Red Pyramid, The Throne of Fire and The Serpent’s Shadow — were published between 2010 and 2012, and followed the Kane siblings as they navigate a world of real Egyptian Gods. The books actually share a canonical connection with Riordan’s Percy Jackson and Heroes of Olympus series, eventually crossing over with the former in Demigods & Magicians, two crossover stories released in 2016.

Kane Chronicles nearly found life at Netflix as a series of films, but ultimately was not produced, leading the rights to be regained by Riordan, and subsequently given to 20th Century Television.

Disney+ currently produces Percy Jackson and the Olympians, which is set to air its third season in November, adapting The Titan’s Curse, finally surpassing the 20th Century Fox films of the early 2010s to be the first project to adapt the third book in Riordan’s best selling collection.

With the Kane Chronicles and Percy Jackson adaptations underway, it seems inevitable that we will get adaptations of Magnus Chase (yes, the cousin of Annabeth) and Heroes of Olympus at some point.
