‘The Gentlemen’ Season 2 Ending Explained: Who Organized The Attack?

After a long hiatus, The Gentlemen is back for its sophomore season and with it new dangers, new deals, and new partners. When a plane trip goes wrong and a home invasion goes worse, its up to The Duke (Theo James’ Eddie Horniman) to find out who exactly organised the attack on his estate and who tried to kidnap Tarquin.

The Gentlemen follows Eddie, an English nobleman with ties to a criminal underworld, where he tries to make his millions, face cutthroat enemies, and ultimately become the King of England. Read the synopsis below:

What Happens in ‘The Gentlemen’ Season 2 Ending?

It is revealed that Gospel John (Pearce Quigley), a crime boss that was featured in the first season of The Gentlemen, is responsible for the murder of Bella and the attempted kidnapping of Tarquin. He is confronted by Carlos Vargas (Cosimo Fusco) in a warehouse that is outside any jurisdiction. Vargas’s guards promptly kill John’s men and Eddie, with Susie Glass (Kaya Scodelario), appear on the premises.

In conversation with Eddie, John mentions the story of Jacob and Esau, a direct callback to earlier in the season when Freddy (Daniel Ings) expresses his anger at Eddie for becoming the heir to the empire. He admits that he teamed with Freddy, though Eddie had already suspected so, and that Freddy was still sore over not inheriting the house, the title or the drug empire. John tells Eddie that they were never going to hurt Tarquin and just wanted to ensure that he never inherited the empire either, instead being given to a member of John’s community whose child had died. John begins to pray whilst Eddie exits the room.

Eddie goes back home while John’s prayers and mentions of Jacob and Esau wring out in the background. He visits Freddy, against his mother’s wishes, and confronts him for what he did and begins beating him out of anger, belting him and kicking him. A van pulls into the driveway and Eddie holds Freddy at gunpoint, whilst he begs for his life. It is revealed that John is in the back of the van with a chainsaw. Freddy kills John, and Eddie tells him, “Good boy, Freddy.”

Does ‘The Gentlemen’ Season 2 Have A Post-Credit Scene?
