Cape Fear is an Apple TV series based on the films Cape Fear (1962) and Cape Fear (1991), which are both based on the novel The Executioners by John D. MacDonald. The 1991 film was directed by Martin Scorsese and produced by Spielberg’s studio Amblin Entertainment after Spielberg passed the project onto Scorsese to direct. As such, this new TV adaptation is produced by both Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg.
Cape Fear is created and showrun by Nick Antosca and stars Javier Bardem as the infamous Max Cady. Cady was previously played by Robert Mitchum in the 1961 film and Robert De Niro in the 1991 film. Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson also star as Anna and Tom Bowden, respectively.
