‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Finds New Writer In Justin Kuritzkes?

With the release of ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ looming, more and more information about people attached to the project is trickling out — including a new writer.

Promotion is ramping up fast for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. A new trailer is on the horizon to release any day now, and Peter Parker actor Tom Holland is beginning his press tour. His first stop of which was on Amy Poehler’s podcast, Good Hang With Amy Poehler.

During this appearance Tom Holland talked all sorts of things about the development and production of the latest Spider-Man film. Hidden within this over-an-hour long talk, something interesting was said. When discussing a shoot day in which Tom and Zendaya felt the scene they were filming wasn’t clicking right, Tom revealed he went to the writer of the film, Justin, to fix things before they reshot the scene the next day. The interesting thing about this is that:

There is no writer on the announced team for Spider-Man: Brand New Day named Justin.

This, of course, is cause for some confusion, as Chris McKenna and Eric Sommers (the writers of the previous Spider-Man trilogy) were reported to be returning. Their work could still be heavily used of course, and this Justin person may just be the on set script doctor. But interestingly, all signs point to Justin actually being Challengers and Queer writer, Justin Kuritzkes.

Kuritzkes previously worked with Zendaya on the Luca Guadagnino film Challengers, which was also produced by Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal. The math seems to be checking out. Even further proof of his involvement is that reliable insider @ApocHorseman on X confirmed that Kuritzkes was indeed on set, every day. Additionally, Jordan Ruimy from World of Reel claims that he also heard Kuritzkes had been hired onto a Marvel project after his DCU film Sgt. Rock was scrapped.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, Eman Esfandi, Michael Mando, and many more. The film arrives in theatres on July 31, 2026.
