‘Dragon Quest’ 40th Anniversary Stream Set For May 27th

Earlier today, the official Dragon Quest social pages announced that the series’ 40th anniversary livestream will air on May 27th, 2026 at 6:00 AM PT / 9:00 AM ET. You can view the presentation below:
Per the YouTube description, the showcase will last for at least 10 minutes. The event doesn’t come as a surprise as Dragon Quest Creator, Yuji Horii actually let the announcement slip a little over two weeks ago on his KosoKoso Podcast:
“We’ll do a livestream on May 27. I think we’ll also be able to announce the next title/work. There are various other things besides the next title too. Please look forward to it.”

News On Long Awaited ‘Dragon Quest XII’
Dragon Quest XII: The Flames of Fate was first announced back in 2021 during the series’ 35th Anniversary Stream. Aside from learning that the game would feature a much darker story and the turn-based battle system will be changed, development on the game has been mostly silent. This stream could provide an update on the long awaited title.
New ‘Dragon Quest’ Remakes
Over the past few years we’ve seen a number of Dragon Quest remakes be released including Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake (2024), Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake (2025) and Dragon Quest VII Reimagined (2026).
This livestream could see the announcement for even more remakes, currently the following games have yet to receive remakes:
- Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen
- Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride
- Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation
- Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King
- Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies
- The Japan Exclusive, Dragon Quest X: Rise of the Five Tribes / Dragon Quest X Offline
