‘The Pitt’ Season 2 Episode 11 Review: Ice is Here

Another week, another episode of The Pitt. Here is our review for The Pitt Season 2 Episode 11 which is out now.

Hour 11 of The Pitt picks back up at 5:00 PM for Season 2 Episode 11; here is our review for it.

This episode has a lot of moving elements, but I imagine the one most people for obvious reasons, will focus on is the ICE storyline. John Wells, the showrunner, said that HBO told them to “make sure it’s balanced.”

When I first heard about this, I was certainly skeptical of what it could mean. How do you balance a storyline like that? In general you want almost most storylines to be balanced in some way but when you tackle a topic like Ice what does that usually mean.

To my surprise, I wouldn’t call the depiction of Ice in this episode balanced in the slightest. Maybe a future episode changes that, but for now the ICE agents are only shown in a completely unfavorable light; they are straight-up horrible in this episode.

‘The Pitt’ Season 2 Episode 11 Review: Ice is Here

Two ICE agents come in with a woman, Pranita, who has a shoulder injury of some sort and is in need of medical assistance after being shoved down the stairs during an ICE sweep. This affects the entire hospital, as many patients start to leave after they see the ICE agents come in. We also learn that nurses, including ones legally authorized to be in the country in the form of temporary protected status, also leave.

Robby fast-tracks Pranita’s case as much as he can so that he can get the ICE agents out as quickly as possible. It turns out that all she needs for now is a sling since she doesn’t have a fracture. One of the agents who is masked finds out she can leave and before Pranita can get that sling, he starts to forcibly get her and leave. Jesse the nurse steps in and tries to stop him.

We cut away to Robby hearing what is going on and running on to the scene, and by the time we see what’s happening on the other side, Jesse is on the ground in handcuffs being detained while he and Pranita are taken away.

There really is nothing that is balanced about this, which is a good thing in this case. I’m curious to see where this goes with Jesse, but by the sounds of it, this won’t be a storyline that will be in every episode for the rest of the season but rather maybe picked up in one of the last couple episodes.

Outside of just ICE, a lot happens this episode, and I would say almost all of it is good. There’s a storyline that features a mother that comes in with her very young child who is unresponsive as the mother. What seems like a typical storyline gets a twist when the mother attempts to walk into traffic as a truck is coming before Al-Hashimi saves her. The actress playing the mother is excellent in this episode, especially in a brief scene after this happens.

Another massive moment is we finally see Langdon attempt to apologize to Santos which ends how you probably imagine it does. Santos tells Langdon to tell everyone that he stole drugs from the hospital and that’s why he got put on leave, which Al-Hashimi overhears.

There are some other really good small storylines going on, and all in all, this is easily the best episode this season in my estimation.
