‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’ Take Flight In New Trailer

The latest trailer for the first Star Wars film in 7 years, The Mandalorian and Grogu, has arrived. Read our full article below.

It’s been over half a decade since the last Star Wars entry has hit theaters. In that time, Lucasfilm’s focus has been shifted over to developing multiple streaming series, the most successful of which was The Mandalorian. Now, for the big return of Star Wars to the silver screen, we are getting a continuation of that series in the form of The Mandalorian and Grogu, which has just received its latest trailer.

The trailer opens up with a squad of X-wings in front of a setting sun while the classic Star Wars fanfare plays, a tune that is atypical for The Mandalorian-centric stories. We see Din Djarin, the title Mandalorian, and Grogu in the cockpit of a brand new Razor Crest. Din buckles up Grogu, who was just messing with all the buttons of the ship like he would often do in the show. The two then leave for, as implied in the trailer’s editing, the city planet of Coruscant to get information from a four-armed monkey alien.

We then cut to a narrated montage where Din describes the different factions at play, which gives us a glimpse at the different types of antagonists we are getting, including the Hutt Twins from The Book of Boba Fett. A small action montage plays showing Din and Grogu taking on an Imperial base with Sigourney Weaver’s character, Ward, explaining that they aren’t working for revenge but for “preventing another war.”

Din jumps the Razor Crest into hyperspace and then we see one of the big reveals for the film for the hardcore Star Wars fans: Embo, a bounty hunter character from The Clone Wars series, will be making his live-action debut in the film. Another big surprise of the trailer is also revealed right after, Din’s helmet gets taken off by the Hutt Twins, the first time we have seen the character’s face since The Mandalorian Season 2. Grogu puts on his own armor pieces, seemingly ready for a rescue mission of his own.

We see Grogu meditating as Din talks about how the child will live centuries beyond his own life, and we get a quick look at Din fighting Jabba the Hutt’s son, Rotta (played here by Jeremy Allen White), in a gladiatorial ring. The trailer cuts to a quick action montage where we see Din facing a giant water snake and Zeb Orrelios fighting off Stormtroopers. The trailer ends with Din and Grogu escaping the streets of Coruscant.

Alongside the trailer, a brand new poster was revealed, you can view it below.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu is directed by Jon Favreau and stars Pedro Pascal, Jeremy Allen White, and Sigourney Weaver. The film hits theaters on May 22nd.
