Paul Dano Hints At Riddler Return In ‘The Batman Part II’
Paul Dano has addressed a possible return as The Riddler in The Batman Part II and The Batman Epic Crime Saga.
It’s been nearly four years since Paul Dano played The Riddler in Matt Reeves’ iconic 2022 film, The Batman. Now, ahead of production for The Batman Part II, Dano has addressed a possible return for his character, following the events of the first film.
Promoting his latest film, Olivier Assayas’s The Wizard of the Kremlin, in which he plays a fictionalized advisor to Vladimir Putin (Jude Law), Paul Dano sat down with French outlet Clique TV to talk his career in an hour-long piece for the outlet’s YouTube channel. Naturally, the topic of The Batman and a possible reprisal for Dano as The Riddler came up, leading to Dano to address this:
“Oh I don’t know. I can’t say … It’s a good question too,”
As a statement itself, he plays it safe, but the interesting thing about the answer is the actors delivery. Grinning, Dano says this and chuckles a little, which heavily implies some sort of future for the character, outside of the comic books.

The Riddler last appeared in The Riddler: Year One, a The Batman Epic Crime Saga set comic, written by Dano, that serves as a prequel to The Batman, and follows Edward Nashton in his early years. A future appearance would mark his third.
The Batman Part II is set to reunite lead Robert Pattinson with Barry Keoghan’s Joker, Colin Farrell’s Penguin, Jeffrey Wright’s Jim Gordon, and Andy Serkis’s Alfred Pennyworth, as well as Sebastian Stan as Harvey Dent and Scarlett Johansson as Gilda Dent.
