‘The Pitt’ Season 2 Episode 4 Review: Saved By The Sides

Another week, another episode of the Pitt. Here is our review for The Pitt Season 2 Episode 4 which is out now.

The Pitt Season 2 Episode 3 picks back up at 10:00 AM as we go through another hour of the show; here is our review for it.

We open with a few of the doctors betting on how many patients they’ll receive from another ER in town, Westbridge, which is currently down. Surprisingly, Dr. Al Hashimi is also among those bets, and her conversations with Robby feel surprisingly more flirty than usual this time around.

Surprisingly, the chaos hasn’t yet started, but the patients the hospital is getting do ramp up. We get some new patients including a man who got hurt doing parkour who comes into the Pitt unconscious. A woman comes in with him who films him and claims they film everything for their social media and she needs a video for her channel for July 4th so she continues to film him inside the ER. Another storyline includes a construction worker who comes into the ER after he fell at work, but he doesn’t have health insurance.

To me, both these storylines are easily the weakest of the season, and the latter insurance storyline may even be the weakest of the entire series. Don’t get me wrong I think the idea for the insurance storyline is great and should be a layup for the show especially considering how much it rings true to real life. There are so many families that make just enough money to be above the threshold for medicaid and not enough to afford healthcare. The issue is that the execution of said storyline is mishandled. It feels far too on the nose even for a show that is on the nose more than it probably should be.

The storyline is rushed and what we end up seeing feels like they blew a wide-open layup. Luckily this storyline isn’t resolved so maybe they can improve upon it or even be able to fix it. As for the other influencer storyline, even that feels too on the nose. It gets better as we go through the episode as medical elements get involved but the initial stink never truly washed away for me.

Despite all this, I do think the episode outside of this is quite good. There are some really fun moments. The recurring patients in particular have been great. The woman from the earlier episode who superglued her eye shut comes back after Langdon’s remedy fails. What ensues is a really fun mini-twist for Javadi. There are also little bits and pieces of other smaller storylines that work quite well.

I do wish the main storylines in this episode were handled better but the side storylines come through and save this episode for me.
