Lars Eidinger Joins James Gunn’s ‘Man of Tomorrow’ as Brainiac
Man of Tomorrow has finally found its villain, Brainiac, played by Lars Eidinger.
Casting is finally underway for James Gunn’s next film, a sequel to 2025’s Superman titled Man of Tomorrow. The film follows Superman (David Corenswet) and Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) as they team up against a bigger and more terrifying force, which we finally have learnt is Brainiac, played by German actor Lars Eidinger.
The move comes after James Gunn supposedly debunked a list of finalists for the Brainiac role that included Claes Bang, Matt Smith, and Sam Rockwell (reported by Nexus Point News) as well as Dave Bautista (first reported by MyTimeToShineHello). Now the role has gone to Lars Eidinger, a German actor best known for his roles in Personal Shopper, High Life, and White Noise. He most recently starred alongside George Clooney and Adam Sandler in Noah Baumbach’s Jay Kelly.

Brainiac is one of Superman’s most famous foes, despite not starring in a live action theatrical DC film, known for his intellect and cunning. He most recently appeared as the villain of Harley Quinn Season 5 on HBO Max.
The film is eyeing an April production start for the film, which is deep into pre-production, with writer-director James Gunn even taking his crew for weekly cinema screenings.

Man of Tomorrow is set to be the fourth film released in the DC Universe Chapter One: Gods & Monsters. It will follow Superman, Supergirl, and Clayface. It also marks James Gunn’s The film stars David Corenswet, Nicholas Hoult, Lars Eidinger, Rachel Brosnahan, Skyler Gisondo, and Frank Grillo.
